Looking for quartz worktops for our new kitchen. Topsco have given us best price (& seemed v approachable on phone) but just wondered if anyone has any experiences of them? Thank you!

Thank you Baxdream that is gorgeous! Actually think it was your kitchen on the other thread that let me know about Topsco.

Sorry personal question - they seem keen for payment by bank transfer which is slightly putting me off - did you pay that way or by card? Thank you!

Hi sadaisy, did you get a reply to your previous query?

I ask because we’ve been asked to pay by bank transfer and we’re very uneasy about it. Did your worktop get delivered alright? How was your experience?

Thanks!

sdaisy26 · 23/05/2018 11:05

@vivasod

They're not actually in yet, kitchen is being fitted in a couple of weeks (our builder was delayed).

But we have gone with them & paid deposit so far & they have been v contactable re fitting dates etc so hopefully it will be ok! I was reassured by reviews etc I could find, they seem to have been around quite a while & so on.

I'll let you know!

Thank you ! Hope you’re kitchen gets done alright. So will you pay the amounts by BACS?

We’re due to pay the second part following the templating today, and still jittery about a bank transfer! They suddenly demanded almost 75% of the order value at this stage, whereas only 40% was due now. When I pointed that out, the chap sounded annoyed and said they will
Take the entire 12 working days to get the job done, not the7 days they originally promised.

Good luck to both of us I guess?!

sdaisy26 · 23/05/2018 11:44

Yep good luck!

Would love an update when yours are in.

I can kind of understand the bank transfer thing. It costs a lot to take card payments and bank transfers will come in quicker, helpful when you're ordering large amounts of material. But it did give us pause for thought.

For peace of mind I would ask to pay £100 on credit card so that you have protection if anything goes wrong.

Vivasod · 05/06/2018 22:26

Hi sdaisy26, just wanted to let you know that my worktop was finally installed today! It was due last Friday but it broke during transport so they had to get a new one done.

Everyone at their office was really helpful and understood the inconvenience this caused. They even gave me a small discount on the final amount to compensate me.

I’ve paid the final balance by bank transfer. The chaps that came to install were very courteous and I did feel sporty about their really long day. They did a fab job of fitting it and cleaning the place as well.

I hope everything goes well with your kitchen. x

sdaisy26 · 05/06/2018 22:45

@vivasod oh that's fab, thanks for letting me know. Did you pay it all by bacs in the end?

Enjoy your new kitchen! (Still a building site here...)

Vivasod · 06/06/2018 06:03

Yes, all three payments were done by BACS and I got a receipt by email after each x

Just checking you are all happy with ToppsCo. They’ve suggested templating on site & proceeding there & then. This seems bizarre but maybe it’s normal?

Godowneasy · 20/09/2018 17:08

I'e just had a quartz worktop and used Nerostein. Very well priced and trouble free fitting. They visited to measure up, and installed it a few weeks later.
Looks stunning!

sdaisy26 · 20/09/2018 17:53

Hi @snowglobes sorry not quite sure what you mean. Our templating was done on site (has to be) then they took that away to wherever the go & came back to fit the stone a couple of weeks later.

I was generally pleased. The finished worktop is lovely. They were cheaper by quite a bit than other quotes I had. There was a delay between templating & fitting which was irritating and they didn’t communicate about it terribly well but overall wouldn’t put me off using them again.

OP posts:
Snowglobes · 20/09/2018 18:55

@sdaisy26 Thank you! I misunderstood them - they want to template onsite and same day put into fabrication off site. I was thinking they meant cut etc onsite which seemed bizarre. They are very communicative but will be as want my order. I’m going to need a few joins and worried how well it will be installed. Did you have joins - can you see them please? If you have any photos that’d be amazing!!

Snowglobes · 20/09/2018 18:58

@godowneasy ooh not heard of these. Are they national and how are your joins if you had any please?
Ours is an existing kitchen with granite that I hate so they need to take that off too - I’m expecting a bit of damage to the units but they can be repainted. If anyone else has done this I’d be very interested please!

sdaisy26 · 20/09/2018 19:40

Yes I have 2 joins. They’re not invisible (for that I think you need Minerva type stuff) but pretty well done, not particularly noticeable imo.

They did need to cut the upstands on site...I couldn’t believe the dust! But they cleared it all away.

sdaisy which colour choice is this? I am getting so confused about whether silestone is popular because it's the best or if it's just good branding and advertising? Is other quartz pretty much on par or much of a muchness alongside silestone does anyone know?!

Godowneasy · 20/09/2018 23:42

I'm pretty sure Nerostein are national. I'm on the South coast and the fitters came down from London. My kitchen fitter uses them regularly and speaks highly of them for quality, price and fitting service.
The joins are absolutely fine, and I don't notice them at all.
You may need to get the old granite tops removed before they measure for the new tops though as they take very exact measurements (they were here ages!) My kitchen fitter made me some temporary kitchen counters from mdf (cost £20) so I had a fully functioning kitchen while I waited for the counters to be made and fitted.
Just in case you're interested, I've put in an acrylic splaskback instead of tiling. I'm really pleased with that too, and I really can't tell that it's not glass! It does have joins that can be clearly seen, but to be honest now it's been up for a few weeks, i don't notice them- i just see the overall effect

Snowglobes · 21/09/2018 11:49

Thank you!

Their quote is not the cheapest, in fact, it was quite expensive, I was quoted over 3000 for what I want, not the most expensive of course, I was quoted 4000 by one company. Another two quoted me almost the same which is over 2000. I originally thought I would go with one of the two lowest quotes. But topsco/Tom was the first or second to give me a call and asked me for my feedback about the price. I told them the other quotes and they were able to offer me a competitive price which beats the other two, not by much but still, not bad. Also it's not a busy season so I can tell it's a good price. I have just paid two payments and waited for my fitting. The person named Nick will help me with it and he is super nice and kind. I will come back after the final fitting is done and final payment (will make in cash) is paid.

Snowglobes · 10/01/2019 00:10

I ordered and paid for my worktop in mid October and the templater came out the following day or so. However, I’m still waiting for the installation. Oliver says he’ll get a firm date ‘today’ - he says this all the time so I’m now trying to get a refund and going elsewhere.

yinqian1116 · 24/01/2019 08:47

Supposed to be fitted on 18 of Jan, got push back to 23 of Jan, now try to push back to 30 of Jan for fitting. Took 3 payments from me, suppose to refund one payment (over 1000). Have been lied about the refund. I am waiting to see what’s gonna happen. At this stage, I am quite disappointed.

yinqian1116 · 24/01/2019 08:52

Have you left, I want to go for another company but don’t think I can get my money back from them.....

rbeggi · 24/01/2019 14:38

Hi yinqian1116, what a strange coincidence.
We ordered our worktops with a deposit in November, for templating in December and fitting in early January.
They did template as planned, but could not get the granite we asked for. They even sent us on a 3-hour round trip only for us to discover that the company in question did not have the granite we wanted after all. They tried this again, but we called in advance and avoided another 4-hour round trip.
When it was clear they could not find the granite unless we waited several weeks again, they offered a refund over email a few times and we always said YES, please. In the meantime, we made other arrangements with a REPUTABLE company and funny enough now TOPSCO won't refund our deposit as promised.
Still waiting for a response from "operations".
STEER CLEAR!!
