Help me choose a rug please

Hi Peeps

So i thought a rug might bring our lounge together a bit more but cant decide. Problem is carpet is polypropolene so already concerned about a fire risk. The first rug is the only wool one, the others are polypropolene. Any wise thoughts anyone or suggestions? Thank you in advance!

I like the first black and white one.
And I salute your user name which is my favourite charlatans song.

AnaWinter · 23/12/2017 17:56

The first one

Theonlyoneiknow · 23/12/2017 17:58

That is my fav too - its a best size and lovely and soft. I am just worried (?) because it is also polypropolene. Well to be honest I wasnt until DM started having a go!

I like the 2nd one with the yellow

reservoircats · 23/12/2017 17:58

The third one is lovely and homely, I'd go with that one.

AnaWinter · 23/12/2017 18:01

The third is nice too. The only one I don’t like is the middle one. I would go for the wool everytime. I didn’t see your second post so thought the first was the wool.

Theonlyoneiknow · 23/12/2017 18:03

I like the colours in the middle one but ot looks cheap (and was cheap). If the 3rd one was bigger it would be a no brainer. They are all La Redoute. Maybe need to lose a few more hours looking!

It is an awkward long narrow room too which doesnt help!

The second one

nigelschristmasham · 23/12/2017 18:07

It wouldn't bother me what it was made off really, as long as it looked nice (I'm superficial like that however)

cakeymccakington · 23/12/2017 18:09

Number 2 is lovely.

Number 1 is overdone now! And la redoute have been awful at sending them out

Theonlyoneiknow · 23/12/2017 18:17

Oh man decisions !! This is other end of lounge (I know lots of shapes but the chair was picked up ex display and is soooooo comfortable)

I would have said 2 (I want but room is too small!). But seeing the other end of your room I say 1.

Theonlyoneiknow · 23/12/2017 18:21

No.2 comes in a smaller size!

OP posts:
Hogtini · 23/12/2017 18:27

Ooo fab! Love your colours whatever you choose..

AnaWinter · 23/12/2017 18:28

No.2 is too matchy with your curtains.

bluebells1 · 23/12/2017 18:30
  1. Failing that, 3. Definitely not 2.
Theonlyoneiknow · 23/12/2017 18:33

Thanks for all the comments! Appreciate taking time to post. Is there anywhere I am missing a trick by not looking at? I feel like I have googled forever looking (and dreading packing the unwanted ones up for return!)

I have the first one, lovely rug but after having it about 8 weeks it's not as soft as it was!

I prefer the first or third. Have you tried pulling it away from your fire and putting the edge under your sofa/chair?

I have a weird shaped living room too and it's hard to place things.

Whitecovers · 23/12/2017 18:39

Have you tried wayfair?

cakeymccakington · 23/12/2017 18:42

Ok having seen the rest of the room I think I'd probably steer clear of any more patterns tbh.

I have an incredibly boring one from John Lewis
It's plain grey. But it's the softest thing I've ever touched

cakeymccakington · 23/12/2017 18:42

I think achica have rugs on atm too

Theonlyoneiknow · 23/12/2017 18:46

Agree about too many patterns - I could change the curtains but they are new (ish) and I like the pattern/colours. Maybe a plain large dark grey rug would be better? Or I move the checked chair to the other side of the room. I am so rubbish at interiors (moved in 4 years ago I am that bad!!!)

chocolatecheesecake · 23/12/2017 18:47

The third one is my favourite from that angle, but with the curtains and check sofa I'm not sure. Could you put a throw over the sofa to reduce the amount of pattern?
