Black window frames inside - any regrets?!

Hi,

I know this is done to death (probably by me tbh) but I've to order my windows in January for a new build and am panicking!!

It's not just the cost and stress of getting it right, it's the pressure of choosing a colour I'm going to be happy looking at for 30 years.

Anyway, am contemplating black for the inside (more than likely the outside too).

Has anyone here done this and regretted it?

Love the darker windows. Just had Anthracite Grey installed, front door and patio doors next I’m having my windows done.

I realise this post is really old. Which colour did you opt for in the end?

Roselilly36 · 16/04/2023 08:36

Black will only be a good choice if your property is very light has very large windows, patio or french doors. In a regular home I think I will make dark. Personally I would have black outside, white inside.

I have a stone cottage with black door and black wooden windows internally and externally. They've been like that since 2016. Personally, I like the look.

Just noticed this is a really old post. Why go to the bother of asking what someone did in 2017. Just create a new post?

I’m interested if they had black and now regret it? Or anyone else who’s had them for a few years on this thread, had any regrets?

we’ve just had ours in (big window plus bi-folds) and look great to be fair. So interested whether they’re still happy with it after all these years

tbh whether they reply or not, makes no difference to me. But I came across this whilst researching for black blinds (which is another issue) - the blind companies are telling me black isn’t a common option. Most people have anthracite / grey and white

It’s definitely a personal choice and each to their own. The majority of friends have gone for anthracite or white, even on renovations in the last few months, and we seem to be the only one opting for black inside.

I'm in the process of having black aluminium bifolds with crittal style bars put in, and I had a new tall single pane window put in already - it looks AMAZING and makes no difference to the light or the ability to use colour on the walls whatsoever! It adds a much needed architectural dimension to the boxy space., and looks great with my pink and green walls. All these boring people...

I live in a victorian cottage with a formerly characterless 20 year old dining room extension which is now the wow room of the house.

Black IS classic, having been used on metal windows for literally hundreds of years. Anthracite is ok, but is now fairly ubiquitous being used on UPVC windows on all new housing developments - so that's the one that will date. I do like white frames on classic wooden windows, but white aluminium just makes windows look like UPVC.

I'm an in love with this, my house has cladding which I need to replace, and I love the look of the dark frames. I thought they were black, but could be dark grey.
