Our builders got ours in in a day but they haven't put doors on. They were present for templating which happened last week.
How long is it between templating and fitting?

Thanks Namedy that's a really helpful link thank you.

Trouble is we don't know who 'Frank' works for or their address hence our email to Twatchops yesterday! I guess we'll just see if he contacts us again.

rick - Twatchops might have sold the debt to Frank. Or "Frank" might just be a mate he is using to intimidate his way to payment, with the debt still very much being with Twatchops. Either way, I think you're doing the right thing to ask for details and stand your ground. Get everything logged officially, too - a visit from the cops to Twatchops could be useful. These people don't didn't know who they were messing with when they took on #TeamRick!

That's reassuring about templating. I'll ask the builders how quickly they think they can get the base cabinets in!! I was told 7-10 days between templating and fitting, but I guess it could vary a bit.

whisky we had a week between templating and fitting of our quartz. The company we used normally do it within 5 working days. Our builder knew when the templater was coming and had all the base units in, even though he needed to take a couple back out after they'd been to fix the floor. If the units are ready built, I don't think it takes long to put them in.

I wish we'd had our quartz cut professionally to size. It's max top which is an amazing product but can, in theory, be cut on site by kitchen fitters but guess what? The Builder assured me they could do it and they screwed up on of my edges. Looks a mess! As well as being incapable of fitting the vinyl tiles properly!

@devondream I can't believe about the Christmas hols?! What's that all about? Ridiculous!

Our worktop was fitted in less than 5 working days post templating. Very quick but the firm was local.
@Fianceechickie can they smooth the edges somehow?

It's an edging strip @Believeitornot goes on the end they just didn't bond it sufficiently. Same as with the floor. It's a different material to what they're used to and instead of saying 'we don't know how to fit this properly' n which case I would have got someone who did, they just started the job and then started to make excuses/complain. Tried to get me to have a top on my island that hung over 6 inches each side so they didn't have to cut it!! I sent the Builder pics/links/samples for both worktop and floor cos I was worried this exact thing would happen and lo and behold...

Oh no fiance - how utterly disappointing. Sad I wonder if there is anything another company could do to put it right?

Thanks guys,
I'm afraid I don't know what a mumsnet tap is...eek...am i kicked out the group already??
Builder is our friend and he was brilliant, cannot say the same about our painter/decorator however, we have a few choice names for him!
Plaster dust, saw dust, general chopping of anything dust is a nightmare, especially when you have a dust allergy (no that isn't a joke, wish it was)
No 'hague blue' on the walls yet!
Let me try and find some pics...a year in and a few bottles later and the end is looking nigh...

Sorry, don't know why it's upside down, bit of a rookie poster over here

It looks lovely twokids! That grey is a beautiful soft colour.

My Porcelanosa tiles have arrived, but frustratingly I can't look at them in the rooms they will be in, because builders are working in there!! Gah! They are prepping my hall for plastering today. It smells of rotten eggs!

I am trying to choose stairparts and getting myself into a complete muddle about what I want. I chose some beautiful elegant tapering spindles, then realised my staircase is a dwarf by modern standards, and that they would be so cut down that they would look ridiculously stumpy. What did you guys choose?

NamedyChangedy · 11/12/2017 15:06

TwoKids even upside down your kitchen is beautiful! What is that colour?? And you're nearly finished - you must be so relieved. I'm hoping we can at least have a functional kitchen by the end of the week, but there'll still be a bathroom and utility to finish off.

Fiance that is absolutely rubbish, I hope they're taking full responsibility for it...?

teamRick I'm wondering whether one could set up a basic site with details of your project saying "work partially completed by twatchops - please contact us for more details". Or "begun by twatchops, completed by xxx". Then anyone who looks him up would see it in the search results and hopefully get in touch with you first, or at least have a seed of doubt planted in their minds. These people can't continue to operate like this, wreaking havoc across the country!

Fianceechickie · 11/12/2017 16:00

No they're not @NamedyChangedy when they realised how hard it was to cut they said if I wanted them to go ahead and do it, it was at my risk! Builder keeps saying the kitchen fitter is coming back to do it but no sign so far! Same with floor. There's little gaps between tiles and the Builder is blaming 'the floor'

That sounds so frustratinh Fiancee. I wish builders would just say if there is something they are not sure about doing. Our builders are not fitting our front door because they say the cost of the door company doing it is what they would charge, and while they could do it the door company would be better plus then we get the guarantee. We are getting the kitchen from their preferred supplier partly because we know they know how to fit them and the work rounds for any quirks.

More steel beams going in here today. I have a hole in my living room wall now as they couldn’t get the beam in without more demolition. I am hoping they have swept up the mess in the living room. I did a big hoover and mop yesterday too!

Lovely kitchen twokids.

I was at the house today just go make sure the kitchen guys turned up!
Stayed for 1 hour and got some photos of the parts they have brought in.
Due to be finished tomorrow and the cupboards are ready assembled so I've should be good.

Looking good devon.

Listening to the builders get another beam in was hilarious today. Much shouting and “this way, no this way!” It was a bit chuckle brothers but now once the electrician & plumber have done their last bits we can close up the ceiling and floor. Check out my lovely beam.

Some fantastic looking kitchens here!

Rick, you and monkey are why I've researched our possible builders to death, including checking their accounts and every possible review online!

Fianceechickie · 11/12/2017 20:20

That sounds sensible to me @DustandRubble I wish they'd just have said that but my Builder is like 'nah it'll be sound, they're all good lads' etc. All builders are the same, you're there trying to think of everything in advance, doing your best to make sure it's going to be what you want, but they're not interested until the day before they want to do that bit!

Underfloor heating anyone?? Ours got put on for the first time on Thursday and it's still not getting the room as warm as it needs to be. Is this normal???

devondream · 11/12/2017 20:28

Lovely beam dust!

Ours arrived with my name written on it. I
Was so happy to finally get it and for it to be named that I added a shot of it to the online photo album!!!!

Anyone else taking endless photos? I find it good to look back on week by week and see how far we have come.

DustandRubble · 11/12/2017 20:28

A friend had underfloor heating and it took a while to get going. I seem to remember she was advised to leave it on very low to start with and then after a few weeks gradually turn it up.

So how do I break it to hubby that our relatively new pans won't work on our induction hob 😬🙈

Thanks @DustandRubble was getting worried. Of course the plumber didn't explain properly just disappeared while I was out obvs!

Also are you running it all the time Fiancee? I have seen advice that it should be on and controlled by thermostat, so it never goes completely cold as the size means it takes longer to heat up. But I’m not sure of the ins & outs. Google may be your friend!
