Happy weekend everyone!

We currently have no wall at the back of our house where our second set of bifolds are going, it's bloody freezing! It will all be blocked up today though.
Our utility is being fitted so we'll have a sink and our ceilings are painted 😍
Just the plumber tomorrow 😬

Wow Devon looks amazing!

Our amazing plasterers have done the last wall this morning in DH's man cave. Hooray!

No more calls from 'Frank' ! 😬

Yeah for great plasterers teamrik.

Hopefully Frank disappears. Have you done online reviews about twatchops? I think you should!

Bax we have had no back wall for ages! Our canvas door is doing a reasonable job of keeping the cold out. Although it is struggling now the temperature is officially Baltic.

We have trenches dug so deep in the garden that the builders are making jokes about recreating the Russian front (they are Russian). Seeing the thickness of the clay down there I can see why my attempts to garden have been pathetic. Raised beds are the way forward.

Our Mumsnet tap doesn't fit our utility 😱 it touches the cupboards above! Aghhh! It needs to be extendable as it's mainly to use to Bath our lovely dog.

rick- without being all Mumsnetty-dramatic about It, I think you should log "Frank's" call with the police so there is a record. This is completely and utterly outrageous and you should not have to.lut up with threats and intimidation. (I know you and your DH are very far from.scared by this, but that's not the point. He may be doing this to other people who are more vulnerable, he may have already threatened others).

Quiet weekend here. I removed a radiator to decorate the study only to find that the plaster behind is shot to pieces and will need to be skimmed. So there are now only 2 radiators in the house and a delay before I can put the new one on. I can't put the old one back because I had to saw through part of it that was jammed on. Gah!! I'm top of this, there is a huge hole in the wall where the electrician has removed an extractor and just left the gap uncovered. It's a bit chilly. Sad

Hello! Does everyone else have snow? We have copious amounts!!! I've never seen the like of it!
Doubt we'll see any builders or trades on site tomorrow- can't think they'll be able to travel!
We have half a kitchen fitted! Pics attached.

We did get a bit of snow here in London, for once! Ooh I really sympathise with those with no or inadequate heating in this weather. It’s positively Baltic! Xmas Sad

Well Twatchops emailed a correction to say he had sold the debt!
DH has gone back saying it's in dispute, asking for the name & address of the company he has sold the debt to and making it quite clear that if there are anymore intimidating phone calls we will contact the police!

TeamRick · 10/12/2017 22:11

And now a reply-

It's nothing to do with him anymore and we're not to threaten him!

Dear god that man is such an absolute twat!
Apologies for the language! 😡😡😡

Ladies, any ideas where/how I can get hold of two more of the tiles I have on my new floor without paying for a whole box plus delivery? The fitter changed his mind and decided to put them under rather than round the kitchen meaning he's left me a little gap in the new loo! And the Builder is charging me an extra £250 for laying them cos they took much longer than the fitter has calculated for. So many issues cropping up at the end! Poor joints on skirt and door frames, poor quality material used too, patio doors don't meet properly in the middle and he reckons I owe him an extra grand. And DH seems to manage to make me have all the awkward conversations!! Oh and the underfloor heating doesn't seem to work well enough to heat the room. And the plumber has fiddled with the heating in the rest of the house too. Had enough!!!

Believeitornot · 10/12/2017 22:53

@Fianceechickie can you order tile samples? That might work.

@TeamRick that’s terrible! Hopes he fucks off.

Am getting worried we won’t be done for Xmas. Things have slowed down although we did get to fire up the new stove at the weekend which was fabulous.

Believe so do I! He's so exasperating!

Just like when he was doing the building! Nothing ever his fault, always someone else!

Arrgghhhhhh! I fucking hate him! He hasmade our lives a fucking misery for months and he still won't leave us alone!

Believe - ah for builders slowing down Confused

Teamrik - not good twat and his games. Hope he now has problems with Frank for having sold him a contested debt. Karma!

Here the building trade has union negotiated holidays and they are all "break up" for Christmas on Friday pm. So anything not done by Friday lunchtime (and their Christmas lunch) will have to wait until January!

So it is the last big push this week.

Today the kitchen will start to be installed - they said it will be done by tomorrow night.

The painters have 3 days of work to go and the internal doors are being installed today and tomorrow.

Along with the plumbers finishing the bathrooms and the electricians finishing the spot lights and a couple of electrical snagging problems looms like we will have a full house today with around with at least 9 tradesmen on site!

We scrubbed the kitchen floor 5 times yesterday to get rid of the dust and my back is reminding me of it this morning! 😏

Hoping everyone's builders (and ex builders) are productive and will behaved this week.

Off to the Josie son

Oh no Fiancé that sounds like a nightmare. I can understand tiling under the units and it costing more (should've been calculated at the start though!!!) but the list of shoddy work is inexcusable. I hope it gets sorted this week.

Devon that's bonkers, even the schools haven't broken up yet! 🤞🏻for a speedy & successful last week.

Rick, what a complete knob twatchops is. I hope it's resolved. Have you reported him to trading standards and added reviews to every possible site?

I'm still awaiting quotes and most are due this week. One of my favourite builders is visiting today to go over the plans (if he can get here, as we have about 6 inches of snow) I've liked him since we first met, but when I requested a formal quote on the 28th Nov , he was honest and said he couldn't visit until today as he was too busy. I much prefer open honesty!

@teamrick I’m so outraged on your behalf. We’ve had some problems with tradespeople so have been reading up on some of this, from both the creditor and debtor’s perspectives...

Not sure how to do links in the app but this tells you how to put the onus back on Frank and twatchops to prove that the debt is valid, by contacting Frank in writing ASAP...

Can I ask you guys how long it has taken to install your kitchens (minus worktops, as those obviously add a delay if supplied separately)? I need to move my templating appointment for the quartz, and I'm not sure how much time to allow from 2nd Jan, when fitting starts. Will the start of the next week be adequate?

Went in to try to order some stairparts this weekend from a local store. Was met by lots of teeth sucking: "Ooooh, your newel posts aren't high enough. Ooooh that's an expensive spindle are you sure you want that one? Oooh, if you say so, but it seems like an extra two hundred pound for nowt to me. Oooh, you can get that handrail, but there's at least 10 days wait on it". Left empty-handed as they just kept trying to sell me cheaper and cheaper stuff that I didn't want and didn't seem to have anything in stock that I did! You wonder how some businesses ever manage to make a sale.

Report
Believeitornot · 11/12/2017 07:58

@whiskyowl we told the kitchen fitters and builders when the templating was booked in for and they worked towards it. So you should be able to do the same.
As it was - they only needed to install the base cabinets and island which took a couple of days but it is quite a straight forward kitchen.
The worktop people were quite relaxed about whether it needed moving in the days leading up to templating - I was in touch with them every day in the week leading up to it.
