Could that be called a rotunda in the kitchen?

DurhamDurham · 18/11/2017 10:28

I do have a tendency to catastrophise and I can imagine lying in the shell bath having a soak and then the lid clamps down shut and I can’t get out. What a watery way to go Shock

Tokelau · 18/11/2017 10:38

I think my mum would love that house! Parts of my childhood home were styled in a similar way, although in a much cheaper way.

I can’t understand how if the fittings were put in in the seventies, it all still looks so new and shiny. Confused

Tokelau · 18/11/2017 10:39

And are there three hobs in the kitchen?

Tokelau · 18/11/2017 10:40

I love the house actually, although I would want to redecorate a little.

Orchardgreen · 18/11/2017 10:56

Interesting that the TVs are all the old chunky style. And the trouser press. It's utterly hideous.

wowfudge · 18/11/2017 11:00

Wowsers - that's 5 white bathroom suites to shell out for.

That kitchen: my eyes. Having said that, it looks really well looked after and in good nick.

bastardkitty · 18/11/2017 11:02

I'm a bit disappointed that with all those coloured bathroom suites, they didn't manage to squeeze in an avocado one.

wowfudge · 18/11/2017 11:04

I suspect the bathroom choices pre-date avocado. The raspberry ripple one is hideous.

Frouby · 18/11/2017 11:07

That pink bathroom suite reminds me of a vulva.

Can imagine it now.

'Am just having a bath Mum'
'Which bath?'
'The fanny bath' Grin

Wow. Even Liberace might have found the shell monstrosity complete with golden leaping dolphins and deep shag pile surround a bit much! Those bidets look like they’ve been thrown in at random Confused

I actually quite like the retro decor but think a lot of the furniture looks cheap and nasty. So much naff orange pine.

I wonder what the original house was like before it was extended? I like to think they just built around it and you could peel off the outer shell and there it would be inside, perfectly intact Grin

Hawkmoth · 18/11/2017 11:12

Three things:

  1. it's awful
  2. love how they've left their fags out
  3. I absolutely adore the tree root coffee table
BehindLockNumberNine · 18/11/2017 11:14

Is it just me, but are the pictures of the pool and garden in summer actual family photos, not ones taken by the estate agent?
The whole house made me feel a bit sad - it seems frozen in time - the décor, the oldfashioned tvs, the trouser press - like it once was full of life and joy (40 odd years ago) and is now empty and for sale.

I love the décor, it should be kept as a living museum of a time nearly forgotten. (nostalgic old trout)

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 18/11/2017 11:16

It would make a fabulous film set for films about 70/80s nouveau riche.

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 18/11/2017 11:16

Oh my. That's all rather special.

I'm a little bemused by the lovely large windows in the living room that appear to have large piles of stuff/furniture piled up against them on the outside. And the big bed pan next to the dining table - in case you can't quite make it to the pink bathroom mid fondue? And I'm also more than a little worried about being sucked up Augustus Gloop style by the enormous extractor thing in the kitchen.

Vitalogy · 18/11/2017 11:25

Maybe the shell bath doubles as a sensory deprivation tanks Grin
I like the kitchen.

Vitalogy · 18/11/2017 11:33

I like the display cabinets in the living room.
It's very well maintained. Maybe they have a few homes so don't live there all the time.

megletthesecond · 18/11/2017 11:38

All the bathrooms need doing.

I want to like the kitchen but that green is a tad too dark.

Shell thing is hideous.

JohnLapsleyParlabane · 18/11/2017 11:40

As Dolly Parton would say 'it takes a lot of memory to look this cheap'

Rach5l · 18/11/2017 11:50

Oh that’s incredible Grin

Ohyesiam · 18/11/2017 11:51

Worst taste ever award, for 2017 and the test of time.
The work and money it must have taken to get the house SO UGLY.
It's like a migraine.

Iamagreyhoundhearmeroar · 18/11/2017 11:56

The bathroom colours Shock Pink, peach and brown...
The cheapo pine furniture looks so incredibly out of place. The garden is fabulous, though.

SealSong · 18/11/2017 11:57

That house is a thing of wonder! Grin
I bet they had some amazing Abigail's Party type evening dinners there.
It was the kitchen that had me goggling - those green gloss units! Christ on a bike.
The shell bath made me laugh.
