Looking at Rightmove, it was up for auction in July 2013, guide price £135k or £150k, with Pugh and Company.

The person on the forum on the link below seems to have been the highest bidder in July 2013, but was needing a mortgage:

However, the last purchase seems to have been completed in Nov 2013, so maybe he didn't get the mortgage (which is what I suspect), and the sale fell through. Or perhaps he resold it. Anyway, it went for £180k

I think funds to complete the work is the issue - there was a planning application to change part of the grave yard into additional playground for the neighbouring primary school that was refused earlier this year. So a conditional sale of part of the land has not come to fruition.

I found at article about the church online - the EA reckons it needs £200k to complete the works and says the building isn't watertight. There was a double murder in the adjacent vicarage in the late 1800s.

The location isn't great tbh. But with the money and the vision it could be made into a lovely home.

So the person who bought it in 2013 has wasted money ripping out the modern kitchen and half the main bathroom, replacing them with olde worlde looking stuff and not actually done the work that was needed. What a plank.

The current kitchen can't be the same one as in the earlier photos? It's not vintage. It looks more MFI circa 1992.

The changes to the kitchen and bathroom are weird. Someone ring the agents and ask which photos reflect the current state! I'm not in the UK atm or I'd do it myself.

The whole thing is strange if you ask me. The photos from the 2013 sale show a liveable home, albeit with lots still to do to finish it. Wtf has the person who bought it then been doing, apart from trying to flog half the graveyard?

Right, well I'm a nosy bugger and currently on holiday so I've just downloaded the title register from the Land Registry. The latest sale registered was 9 January this year for £100,000.

Well the current owners have open FB profiles and it looks, to me, as though they are trying to flip it and make some money. If their purchase completed in January and they've tried to get pp for change of use on part of the cemetery.

Several newspapers ran articles about it in February.

I am from that neck of the woods. Property is super cheap around there anyway! Not the best location.

We were discussing it earlier and DP thought it wouldn't take much to finish it. But I still don't understand the bathroom and kitchen photos.

There's an open Facebook site for Christ Church Todmorden, for Dec 2013 to Sep 2014, with lots of photos of the renovation works - it looks like a really interesting project. This is when they took out the old kitchen, judging by the photos. I guess it wasn't in great nick, so I can understand that. But the new kitchen seems a strange choice. I don't know when they sold the property, though.

Guess the newspaper articles in Feb were down to a proactive agent talking it up.

It is a super interesting project for sure but would cost sooooooooo much to finish (and then to heat!)

They went to so much trouble sourcing a replacement organ and a staircase, but they put that awful kitchen in! I am losing hours of my life to this!
