Dulux easycare - opinions?

Has anyone used Dulux Endurance/Easy care? What's the paint quality like, and is the finish as good as with ordinary Dulux paint?

I am attracted by that advert where they just wipe the dirt off the walls, but I'm also quite particular about having an extremely good finish on my paintwork!

I heard bad things about it after googling obsessively, mostly that after cutting in people were rollering on and it was peeling off. I went for Dulux vinyl trade matt as it's ok to wipe, and the decorator picked it for in my living room so I figured he rated it (I wasn't paying for paint as it was insurance job!)
So yeah, bought it myself when I decided to do the hallway

Thanks ollivander - that's really helpful. I notice you can get the Dulux trade paint in a diamond finish, which should be more wipeable? I'm not keen on anything shiny - really want a matt finish.

Not sure on the diamond as never used it but I went to a Dulux decorating centre who were v helpful. Their website tells you all the blurb about it too

We've used Dulux endurance- haven't had any problems with it peeling. Painted on fresh (dry) plaster after a wash coat.

We got diamond Matt from the decorator centre. You can scrub mucky fingerprints off the wall and everything is totally fine. The decorator said it's better than the endurance stuff you get in b&q.

It is, however, not cheap.

I don't mind paying extra for paint, it's a tiny cost in proportion to the labour (or the effort in decorating yourself). I figure that a cleanable wall will last longer, saving money over time.

Diamond is great, I have it in my kitchen, walls are still pristine after 6 months. Really easy to wipe off marks.

Forgot to add that I will never go back to Farrow and Ball, which looks lovely but marks easily and you can always see where you've tried to clean it.

orchard - I have heard the same thing from decorator friends. They hate the stuff. I find the whole F&B thing really weird - they're done this fantastic job of marketing, but essentially it's just a bunch of colours.
You can get those colours mixed from the charts in any paint, so why on earth choose a more expensive, less good product? Triumph of marketing?!

I have endurance in the hall in natural hessian and either wipe marks off or just paint over them again. Had to paint over some last week after having a new bathroom fitted and the plumbers had bashed the walls with the old/ new stuff going in and out. You can’t see where I’ve touched it up when it’s dry.

And it was painted 2 years ago so holds it’s colour well

ruhrpott - wow, I'm impressed that you've been able to repaint small parts and have the colour match after 2 years! That's really impressive in terms of how the colour holds over time.

I'm thinking of going for a very light colour throughout my downstairs. I have it in two rooms at the moment, and it works well, but the paint I used marks incredibly easily. I'm really keen to avoid that when it's redone, so very encouraged by these tales of being able to wipe the paint down!

I've always specified Dulux trade for clients projects so went with it for my house too and I've not regretted it. I have 2 boys (9 & 17mths) and so far we've had no problems with marks, even though the youngest is a walking messpot!

I have a mix of pale and strong colours including some black walls and the coverage & depth of colour is good on all of them.

Did you use the trade diamond finish anywhere in your house? I don't want a paint that has a shine, but I do want wipeability- am getting varying reports on how sheen-y it is.

Decorator friend always goes for Dulux trade, he says although the paint is dear two coats is always sufficient, unlike others where 3 are sometimes needed, he reckons it knocks about 10% of the time to do a job, so it's a saving overall.

It's not shiny at all (and it on every wall in our house).

This is the exact one we used, it's not shiny at all but does have a touch wipeable finish

we have it in every room and you can actually scrub it clean from marks esp in kitchen.

I have Endurance in the bedrooms and Diamond in the kitchen and halls. I regularly wipe marks off with no problem. I have upstands and no splashbacks over my hob, sink and worktops. The walls get splashed as you'd expect but so far (8 months in) have not marked. I treat the walls as I would a splashback.

And the finish particularly of the Diamond is very matt.

We’ve just painted in easy care. First coat was a bit of a nightmare, but the second coat went on really well and it looks great. I have two toddlers and a dog so wanted easy cleaning!

Ecureuil you painted your toddlers and dog?

I had the house painted top to bottom in Dulux Diamond in Chalky White. It really is completely flat - no sheen whatsoever. It's THE perfect colour, it sometimes looks ash rose. Paint wipeable, and you can give it a scrub without the paint wiping off. Will be using the same paint for my kitchen after the re-fit, most likely in the same colour.

Should have said had the house painted 4 years ago in the Diamond, and still looks good. And I'm one of those filthy buggers who smokes indoors.
