I'm so so bored of waiting. I'm buying a house and the whole process has taken well over a year and is so frustrating. We are finally ready to exchange but have heard nothing from the solicitors. It feels like it will go on forever. This is the second house we've tried to buy and I don't think I could start again if it fell through. What are you waiting for and how do you cope/distract yourself?

We're waiting for buyers solicitor to raise enquiries since having draft contracts from 16th June, no word, lots of chasing up and non the wiser.
I literally can't distract myself I'm going insane 😩 only a chain of two.

Doje · 09/08/2017 13:28

It's driving me crazy!! Our chain has fallen through 4 times, and we're onto dream house no. 3. This time we're so close but there's been no movement for about three weeks! We just hear that there's 'still queries at the top and bottom of the chain'.

Emaboo22 · 09/08/2017 13:53

Yep im the same. Waiting to exchange. We now all want to complete week of the 29th but its gone silent out there....
Cant book anything and already at risk of losing my removal man

MrMenAndLittleMiss · 09/08/2017 13:58

Feeling your pain too. We're in the middle of a small chain and it's been one petty enquiry after another. Everyone is obsessed with certificates and indemnities yet nobody seems to have them and nobody seems to know what to do. Ridiculous.

Emaboo22 · 09/08/2017 14:14

Argh. I hate this. Just want to pack!!!

HaveAWeeNap · 09/08/2017 15:34

Yes! What IS all this nonsense with certificates?
I last moved a decade ago and there was none of this fuss, I'm sure.

Hurraahhnaptime · 09/08/2017 17:02

Yep i just found out there are still enquiries up the chain. Ultimately they are just questions. Surely most could be answered in no more than 24hrs. I do wonder what takes sooo long.

I'm waiting on a house I actually wanting to buy coming on the market.

Seemed to be lots when I was up for sale soon as I've sold nothing....

emsyj37 · 09/08/2017 19:19

I'm waiting for a house to buy too Lilmiss. We are moving out of our house next month into our old rental (our tenants moved out last month and we left it empty just in case). There is a house we really want to buy but the vendor keeps changing her mind about how much she wants for it - either that or the estate agents are just playing games with us. The stress is ridiculous. I am NEVER moving again after this.

Lilmisskittykat · 09/08/2017 19:56

Feel exactly the same emj - this will be my forever home hopefully. Had a hard job selling mine and took a lot less then I paid for it to get out.

Lucky I'm with my parents at the moment and rubbing along ok so it's ok to wait it out but all the same I'd like to get on with my life ... nearly been married two years and we haven't been able to get settled since

NorthCoast · 09/08/2017 21:13

We're waiting to hear back from the mortgage company about a mortgage offer in principle. They really, really, really do not like me being self-employed, which has culminated in me having to draw up a 5-year income forecast and get it signed off by my accountant as a reasonable projection of my income. The annoying thing is that even if they didn't take my earnings into account at all, we'd still be borrowing under 2x DH's salary alone (he's full-time employed). As it is, we're asking for 1.2x joint and they've already told us we meet the affordability criteria. I suspect they're looking for ways to say no, as we're the last application that squeaked into the pipeline after they announced they were stopping lending outside of their geographic arae.

scoopmuckanddizzyrollytoo · 09/08/2017 21:16

Me too, sold quick, in rental, so pissed off waiting on house coming up. Markets dead. Seemed to be loads before i sold Sad

Emaboo22 · 10/08/2017 15:30

Well still waiting here - looks like we won't be exchanging this week then (sigh)

ADsBadAccent · 10/08/2017 18:55

We're waiting to exchange too. All surveys done, just waiting for our sellers to answer enquiries. Feeling frustrated because they have asked for a month between exchange and completion but we want to move asap as we have to move schools too.

Canklesofglitter · 10/08/2017 19:56

We are renting and buying a new build - should be the easiest deal ever BUT we found out at 4pm that our developer hasn't yet paid the sewer and highways bond and the lender won't lend without.

No idea if it's fixable and of course this is the one day when no one is working late (apart from me who has spent the afternoon trying to arrange insurance for our exchange this afternoon - which didn't happen obviously).

I'm going on holiday tomorrow and I have no idea whether I have a house or not.

This time last year our vendors pulled out on the day of exchange. I think we must be doomed...

sdaisy26 · 12/08/2017 09:16

Yes we're waiting. Have been almost ready to exchange for a couple of weeks now but then something else keeps coming up.

Our latest hurdle is that at 5pm yesterday our mortgage co announce they need more info about a blocked rear access to the property we're hoping to buy. Need to exchange next week so our buyers can give notice on their rented property...they've already messed us around on completion dates (who agrees to complete end of Aug then books a 2 week hol AT THE END OF AUGUST?! Grrr!!!) so really don't need them to have an excuse to delay further.

Everything is so painfully slow. It's a special kind of torture!

Gizlotsmum · 14/08/2017 12:16

We are at the very start and the total radio silence is doing my head in...not even sure when the valuation is (do you get told this if arranged through mortgage company?)

TieGrr · 14/08/2017 13:00

Waiting for mortgage approval and for the solicitor to issue contracts. I just want to sign something... I love this house. I'm terrified it will fall through.

Gizlotsmum · 14/08/2017 13:15

Fx TieGrr we are waiting on valuations then mortgage approval. From daily EA contact it has now gone deathly silent

Canklesofglitter · 15/08/2017 23:07

Gizlot your estate agent should be able to tell you when the valuation is booked in as the surveyor will have to arrange access via them.

Our sage continues. Our lender is consulting yet more people on the roads issue and I fully expect them to ring the Vatican for an opinion tomorrow (only slightly joking). Our broker is tearing his hair out and my holiday isn't exactly relaxing.

The only ray of light today was our darling semi-retired carpet fitter who, when I texted him to say we still hadn't exchanged and that I would understand if he booked in other customers, said he would hold our dates for another couple of days. As we're buying a new build and need to get flooring sorted ASAP I could have kissed him!

Gizlotsmum · 16/08/2017 13:17

Our surveyor called my husband, they are doing the survey on our purchase tomorrow...V excited. Hopefully our buyers are moving forward too

TieGrr · 16/08/2017 13:37

Great news, Gizlot.

Our mortgage has been approved (in principle). Once we get contracts, we'll arrange to get the house valued.

Gizlotsmum · 16/08/2017 14:22

Ooh exciting times Tiegrr

Canklesofglitter · 16/08/2017 19:02

Glad you're getting somewhere now!

We're going backwards. Found out today that our lender definitely won't lend without the roads bond being in place so we have a rock and a hard place choice between finding a new lender or waiting until November.

Hurraahhnaptime · 26/08/2017 11:56

Anyone any further? Still no exchange dates set here :(
