Which house looks best? Links included

I like both houses. They are next door to each other and am debating which one would be better long term. They are both exactly the same lay out etc. Number 1 is far more overlooked but 2 has a wall. So mumsnet jury, which one do you prefer and why?

I feel both have plus points but hoping you may spot something I haven't already ready thought of.

I prefer the 2nd house. More garden (or so it looks) less overlooked, and I think the front looks nicer, also there is a floor plan so I can actually see the layout. Looks brighter. And looks more spacious!

I prefer the second too. Just looked lighter and brighter and I'd want more grass space for DC for play.

Very little in it. House 2 if it is less over looked.

I prefer the second one, it seems much brighter and as above the garden has more grass which is a plus point for me.

If the second one is not overlooked as much go for that. It had a better feel to it too with more light

Thanks ladies. I see what you're saying. Looks like garden is a big thing for everyone! The differences i have thought about are that there are 2 showers in house 1 but 2 baths in house 2. Also, the kitchen in 1 has extra storage space but no space for a table and house 2 does have spaces for a table. Same size room so just different layouts. Interesting how all of you picked up on gardens though

House 1 has really poor photos, so I th8nk overall I would be drawn to House Two more. However if I were looking id visit both and see which one felt better.

No. 2 because of the garden and it's less overlooked. I also think the hedge will afford you more privacy once it grows.

I think you can't decide without visiting - the photos on the two listings are very different in quality

House 1's photos are really poor, and it has no floor plan, so, if I were browsing on the net, I'd be drawn to house 2 and not house 1

That said, presumably if they are next door you've actually been inside both of them?
In which case it comes down to personal taste.... so, I like baths and not showers. I like carpet - but I know a lot are drawn to the wooden floor look.
I don't like House 1's garden either.
With a family, it's great to have a table in the kitchen, so that would be a real bonus for me too.

So they are both selling - which one is the nightmare neighbour, I wonder ? You need to buy their house so you end up living next door to the nice neighbour.

Seriously though, I'd be trying to find out why both are on the market at the same time.

The second one. Lighter and better garden.

I think you need to view both, 'cos they look to be mirror layouts - one has garage on the left, one on the right.

I bought a brand new semi-detached a few years ago, and I had the choice of the left hand side or right hand side - same layout but mirrored.

And it was weird - one felt like home, the other felt slightly off.......just felt wrong somehow.

House 2 looks to me to have the original bathrooms which are extremely bland and a little dated looking. Not sure when the houses were built but you may want to budget to update them.

I prefer number 2. Really like the bay window

Plus, of course, as a buyer, you might be able to play them off against each other a bit - if one is desperate to sell and you can knock a few £k off, then you'd have money to play with in terms of redecorating to your own taste. From a vendor's pov, it's a bit unfortunate to have them 'competing' against each other.

House two. I can't believe you can get a six bedroom for 300 k. I've lived in the south east too long.

The second one by a country mile, but that's mainly because the photos on the first one, for all that there are 26 of them, are atrocious, plus it looks vile inside, horrible decor.

£300k for a 6 bed house though!!!!!!!!!

As soon as I see two or more houses for sale in the same street I instantly think something is up. Subsidence, major development planned across the road....i'm a bit paranoid!
