help me choose a front elevation

We are about to submit plans for extension but I cant choose between two front elevation. I am posting both images. Tell me which one would you prefer and if you have any other ideas, do suggest.

I prefer the first one as it has a wider window upstairs and I think the line of the roof over the lower windows looks better, iyswim.

I prefer the first one too. It has a more generous feel and looks as if it will be lighter inside.

I'd say the first one but was waiting for others to answer to see if I was being stupid or missing something obvious

I just think the extra coverage can be really handy.

Second one looks like a bit awkward with the apex of the roof pointing at the corner of the window iyswim.

First for me too, the wider top window is nicer & I like the hipped roof going all the way across

i hadnt thought about the shade caused to windows by cover at all.

First one definitely, it looks more substantial with the bigger windows and little roof over the downstairs window. The second one looks a bit sparse and there will be lots of brick in relation to window which can look a bit lean.

Although first will be more expensive - but you'll reap the benefits by having a nicer design to live in and also resale value, I should think, in the future.

Our door is on side ..hidden towards left :-).

How about a small right angled triangular window over the garage and, I saw this the other day, the triangular section over the main part of 1st floor (so kind of part of the roof) was actually windows. Where the 'stripes' are were window frames. This was on a 1930s house that had been modernised. I'm assuming it was part of some kind of loft room. It looked amazing.

The window wont be red (just trying to show it is new).

Much prefer all the windows together. It doesn't look balanced when you split them. Presumably, there is a room where the triangular window is otherwise it is an expensive addition if it is just eaves space.

The sloped roof isn't actually over garage. It starts after flat roof of garage and is over the side extension of kitchen-diner. There are velux windows on that sloped roof but triangular window will add light too.

I also like the triangular window adding more light to your kitchen. I like the upstairs window being one longer window, I think it looks better than two smaller ones.

Def option 1 (with the long run of windows).

Having just learnt that the garage is flat roofed, I think your focus should be on mitigating the look of that from the front (and possibly the side) as flat roofed anythings are usually unsightly.

You could build a roof on it (i.e. continue the front elevation roof downwards as a catslide) and use the garage roof space for storage (and you could decide whether you want the triangular window into your storage space) or (cheaper) you could build one of those faux roofs with tile (a few runs of tile that are like a parapet around the garage so you don't see the flat roof from the road). Or you could turn it into a roof terrace!
