Hey Everyone Smile

I have been stalking Mumsnet for about 6 months and decided to make an account today!

Planning a home extension and as a second hand queen I have found near enough most of the goods I need for my reno. Planning to start in about 6 to 12 months. Still saving Confused.

I knew from the onset that I couldn't walk into Magnet and get a new kitchen. Or spurge £5k on new engineered flooring.

For the past 6 months or so I have bought everything I need from eBay, Gumtree etc.

So this is a thread created to share those special finds and give confidence to people who have a limited budget that does not meet their style expectations.

I will kick off and start sharing pics

6.5 metres of encaustic cement tiles. Worth £100 per metre. Not sure whether to put in hallway or path up to front door. I really lucked out with these. They were free found them on Gumtree and my courier charged £20 to collect

I am having a double vanity made using a mid century wood side table.

Bought 2 ideal standard taps brand new in box £40 each worth £200

Marble to go on top of side table - 2 slabs for £30. No idea what to do with the spare one.

Vintage dresser £30 will change out handles

Not sure whether or not to post my counter top sinks as I did splurge with those

Watching for inspiration as I love your style! Also embarking on an extension in the not too distant future so would love to follow your journey.

brownmouse · 22/05/2017 22:15

Love it! We've got a local tip near is the hat has a shop attached for recycling stuff that people have thrown out. They sell stuff on very cheap - most of my furniture is upcycled from there.

Catgirl83 · 22/05/2017 22:18

Also watching with interest. I love the hexagonal tiles OP.

Tinydesigns · 22/05/2017 22:20

I have everything stored in my front room. Using my dining room as a family room at the moment to avoid storage costs

@user1484830599 omg those sound like amazing bargains. I love a sleigh bed

It is all about the timing with ebay. I got the sleigh bed cheap as it was set to finish at 3pm on a Sunday (worst time ever - no one ever bids on a weekend afternoon).

user1484830599 · 22/05/2017 23:42

Also, not rushing in and buying the first item that looks suitable, and really holding out for exactly what you want.

Tinydesigns · 23/05/2017 12:46

I agree. There is always someone selling something that will be suitable for your project. Hold out for the best deals

I have been yearning for a dark kitchen for ages. Dark units with a white marble worktop. The attached images are my main inspiration

I found a guy that sells second hand premium kitchens. And he had a client (millionaire in West London) who wanted his kitchen sold asap it was near enough new. See attached for images of kitchen in previous owners house.

I was sold the following for 2k.
All kitchen units - Value 20k
Franke Sink
Quooker hot water tap & unit - value 1k
Ceiling flush island extractor fan - value 1k
6 burner hob - value circa 500
Dorn Braught (sp) taps - value 1.5k

More pics of kitchen. Don't have the dark worktops which does not matter as I wanted white marble anyway. And the island is wayyyy to big for my kitchen so I'm selling the island stainless steel worktop. And creating a thinner island
