Cost of replacing boiler

Has anyone done this recently? I've had 3 quotes all pretty much £2,700 inc VAT (and that's the cost even for the chap who isn't VAT registered!). It seems like so much. I'm in the South East (not London). Not sure whether to keep looking or sell a kidney.

We had ours replaced a year ago, bought the boiler ourselves £950 and then paid a local engineer £400 for fitting, we are in north of England

Same as Vickibee. It's the price of boiler that can put the cost up. And don't go with an energy company! British Gas quoted she same as you op, for same boiler i got way cheaper. I checked out Mybuilder for a well rated engineer in my area and he was great.

I'm in NW and we paid roughly that amount. Are you replacing like for like? We were replacing an ancient system wth a combi...

P.s I got a Worcester Bosch 30i which seems great so far!

I paid £2300. New combi boiler (ideal logic) and all the work. We had it installed in the airing cupboard upstairs, old one was in the kitchen, so that cost included a lot of new pipework. I'm in Wales.

Mine was less than that for a combi boiler plus one new radiator at Easter. SE London/Surrey border. I'd have to log into my bank account to tell you exactly how much but I think it was under £2500.

The boiler was for a 4 bed semi with 11 radiators.

Mine was a friend of a friend who is an independent gas safe plumber but it wasn't "mates rates"

A bit like asking how much a holiday costs but not specifying where to, how many people,or if two or five star!

How big is house, how many radiators?
Gas or oil?
Combi or do you have a tank?
Etc

Depending on the boiler, £2.7k for the SE sounds about right. If done properly with radiators flushed etc its a good days work for one, though they usually have a helper along.

It took my plumber 2 full days. There were a lot of flushes!

We are in Scotland and paid 3500 last week. The boiler had to be moved and as a result lots of extra pipes installed (stupid new build with stupid boiler and in a stupid place).

I'm in SE (borders of Kent/SE London) I think we paid £1950, for installation and warranty. Paid £1000 upfront and the rest is interest free payments for 10 months. I think we've got a Worcester Bosch 30i

Sorry vooby and scooby (what are the chances?!) I was a bit lacking in detail. System boiler, gas, 4 bed house, 8 radiators plus UFH to be added in the near future. I've asked for Worcester Bosch but one has quoted for an Ideal boiler.

2 bathrooms.

£1700 for replacing a combi with a condensing combi (vaillant ecotec pro 28). 3 bed flat/1bath in Twickenham.
Quite a simple job as most pipework was there. Just needed to add the pipe for the condensed water to drain to waste pipe.
Stick to Worcester Bosch or Vaillant.

Sorry to thread hijack, would buying a new boiler improve our water pressure? We have moved into an 80s house and our boiler in the loft is already raised to help the gravity fall and with a pump on it and it is still so weak compared to what we are used to!

We had our boiler moved into bathroom and flue put through the roof. It was a Worcester Bosch (cost more but meant to be more reliable, however have had nothing but trouble with it) and cost was just under £3k. We are in the South East.

the age of the boiler is not relevant, but the type of plumbing is. You might need to change the pipes.

What colour is your hot water cylinder?

Fill a bucket at the cold tap of your kitchen sink (and the utility room and the garden tap if you have them). Time it. Calculate how many litres per minute it delivers.

How old is your house?

House was built in the 1980s, I'm out and about at the moment but can check the rest later. Will Google what a hot water cylinder is as well!

the incoming water pipe might be black plastic, or blue. See if its external diameter is an inch, or less.

It probably changes to copper at the inside stopcock, about as thick as your finger.

We are in the South and had ours replaced a couple of years ago. We had a back boiler removed and a combo boiler put in upstairs. Plus 5 new radiators, thermostatic valves on all radiators, magma clean fitted and inhibitor. We paid £3400. We have a Worcester combo boiler.
