Large 3 bed detached with garden, garage and driveway, £400 a month, private rent.
Ayrshire.

tissuesosoft · 30/04/2017 19:32

Ex MIL and her partner rent a council house in Zone 4 of London near a major stadium- £625 a month including water for a 3 bed terrace house with garden. Not that I feel angry that they get away with it despite earning over £85k between them through full time employment...

Princesspinkgirl · 30/04/2017 19:33

2 bed ground floor flat no garden private rent 475 Preston

Blinkyblink · 30/04/2017 19:37

Tissue, when you say "get away with it" do you mean fraud?

DavidYucke · 30/04/2017 19:39

South East, small 2 bed flat 750./month. We're lucky as the rent hasn't been increased in the past 4 years we've been here. Other flats in the building are slightly bigger and more convenient than ours and also at least 100 pounds more per month. If landlord decided to stop renting, we couldn't afford to live in this area anymore, it's madness

MrsChopper · 30/04/2017 19:40

£430 per cal month - 2 bed terraced house with nice garden rented from HA. Living up north Wink

PseudoBadger · 30/04/2017 19:40

3 bed house north London £1800 pcmSad

StinkyMcgrinky · 30/04/2017 19:40

3 bed semi with front and back gardens and drive. £595pcm, West Yorkshire.

WhereAreMyTesticlesSummer · 30/04/2017 19:40

Until January I was paying £620 pcm for a privately rented slightly shabby 3 bed semi in naice suburban part of Leeds.

LL told me they were moving back in to avail of the catchment for good local schools for their DC, I moved out, and then a few weeks later it was back on the market to rent for £850 Hmm.

Doesn't matter in the end as with the help of my parents I've managed to buy a house and will be paying £420 pcm mortgage Shock Grin.

I used to live in an HA one bed maisonette in Surrey/south west London border - £430 a month. The same property private in that area would be about £850 a month.

We now live in a private rent 2 bed Victorian semi in Surrey - £1525 a month.

Tissue & Blinky it's not fraud or 'getting away with it' - you need to have specific need to get a housing association/council property, but once you have the tenancy you have it, you don't lose it if you later earn more or circumstances change. That's how it works. I got my housing association property when I was unwell and on benefits, but when we were later earning over £50,000 between us we still had the tenancy. I decided to move because I felt someone else was more in need of the limited amount of low rent property, but I could have carried on living there regardless of what we earned.

4 bed, 3 bathroom. Private rent. £625, North East

FruitCider · 30/04/2017 19:53

2 bedroom HA house in the south £530. Privately it would be £1000. I'm very lucky indeed!

mustiwearabra · 30/04/2017 19:57

Private. 1 bed ground floor flat with small garden in SW London. £1125 per month.

tissuesosoft · 30/04/2017 20:18

paperdoll completely understand she may have had a need when she took on the tenancy 20 years ago (single mother), but once she signed the contract she moved in DP's step dad, they married and then divorced (she then moved in her current partner). Beyond that she has no need. Just wish there were more stringent checks on income, their house could definitely help someone who is in true need.
