Help me choose the perfect bath please

We are finally getting a new bathroom but cannot decide on a bath. What would be best?

Bathroom is 12ft x 12ft
House is Edwardian
I don't want feet. Concealed waste only
Will probably go with wall mounted taps
Needs to be wider than 72cm

Length - tall and shorter folks in the house, room for a large bath but don't want the shorter folks drowning..

Going for a large vanity with drawers and granite top. Separate shower cubicle.

Help! Too much choice. I don't have time to go and find any more to sit in, but from the few I have, I realise that width is important at above 72"

I guess I was thinking either a bateau style or a conemporary oval style? That way the waste is all concealed underneath (I've assumed)...I could be wrong(?)

I don't want the claw feet/off the ground, IYSWIM

Isnt freestanding going to create loads of work with all the surrounding dirt traps?

Have a look on Bathstore.com's website; they have lots of freestanding baths where the feet aren't visible. I currently have their 'London' bath sitting in my garage (but hopefully fitted this month) which is pretty big (much bigger than my current traditional roll-top bath). The taps for many of their freestanding baths can be wall, surface or floor mounted.

I've moved around a lot and worst things about a bath are -

Plugs that (like in most hotels) need the lever to keep them plugged. After a while I've experienced they allow water to trickle out.

Taps that look quite cool and are square with the bottom lip of the tap is longer than the top lip so the water comes out in waterfall effect. Takes ages for bath to fill. Will try to get photo as description is poor sorry.

Honestly - I wouldn't buy a bath I hadn't physically tried out - we've done this recently and I was surprised at how different they all were. I found some really uncomfortable depending on the slope angle of the 'back' of the bath and where my head/neck would sit when laying in it. If you can make some time it'll be worth it imo.

We are about to have a Waters Stream bath fitted. We will have freestanding taps but I think you could do wall mounted. They also have a back-to-wall option called River which would tick your boxes I think.
Depends on your budget as well.

I am quite short and our too-long bath annoys me: cannot relax in it without, as you say, drowning (or at least slumping into the water). Taller DH who insisted never uses the bloody thing!

Remember the bigger it is, the more hot water it will use and the longer it will take to fill up!

I would definitely try it out for comfort too, knowing what I know now! good advice.

You haven't got a combi boiler, I hope?
