Help me choose the perfect bath please

We are finally getting a new bathroom but cannot decide on a bath. What would be best?

Bathroom is 12ft x 12ft
House is Edwardian
I don't want feet. Concealed waste only
Will probably go with wall mounted taps
Needs to be wider than 72cm

Length - tall and shorter folks in the house, room for a large bath but don't want the shorter folks drowning..

Going for a large vanity with drawers and granite top. Separate shower cubicle.

Help! Too much choice. I don't have time to go and find any more to sit in, but from the few I have, I realise that width is important at above 72"

Fab! Thanks everyone. I didn't know about waterfall taps so I won't be looking at those.

We have a high pressure water tank fitted that's on all day..hopefully that'll be ok. However, I take on board what you mean about time to fill and cost. I think a mid sized one might be best. (DH will just have to get cold knees Smile

Will go looking for bath showrooms and will check out Waters Stream.

Thanks for replying!

Not very good at links so this might not work...

this is the one I'm getting when we do our bathroom

TimTamTerrier · 03/02/2017 21:58

What about a deep-soaking bath with a seat in it, a big one will fit big people but the seat means that small people don't have to brace themselves against the other end. I'm very, very tempted by this one for my next bathroom.

TheTeaFairy · 04/02/2017 17:24

Bumping for you for more bath people Smile

Mapless · 04/02/2017 18:21

Ooooo these are rather nice. Thanks for the links.

My usually low-key DH has stunned me by suggesting this: (you may want to squint your eyes first)

Once I realised he was serious, I can't make up my mind whether it is a wonderful centrepiece or somewhat hideous. ..views please?

That just links to the search function.

My IT skills are being tested...here goes...I warned you, you might need to look away ifyou are of a decoratively sensitive disposition...

A lot of the freestanding baths are tapered or slipper shaped and actually a smaller fill than a 'regular' bath. I would look at Frontline, Heritage, QX, Mereway.

justdontevenfuckingstart · 04/02/2017 19:56

Mapless we have that bath on display where I work if you want to pop along and sit in it Grin

Mapless · 04/02/2017 20:00

How tall are you and how did it feel? (Hoping that sounds as I mean it..)

We have no taps at all on our bath - the water comes out of the overflow and we control the temp with a lever fixed on the wall. Is fab - google Grohe Talentofill. Would recommend Duravit baths - we have Stark one but not sure if they do free standing.

OutandIn · 04/02/2017 20:10

Like this - but our contoler on the wall is a Grohe shower mixer and is much more stylish!

I'm 5'2 and fat. I can sit in it and let you know lol

Mapless · 05/02/2017 17:04

Yes please Justdonteven. I need to know that short and fat will be happy soaking in it ☺ (Seems a bit narrow but I might be wrong. ..)

justdontevenfuckingstart · 05/02/2017 18:06

Map I am off tomorrow but in on Tuesday, will sit in our baths and let you know! It is not overly narrow. Will pm you.

Mapless · 05/02/2017 19:14

GrinFlowers Thanks

Apologies for the slight hijack, but has anyone bought a bath without trying it out in a shop? I'm struggling to find anywhere with a good range of freestanding baths on display and daren't part with my £ unless I'm confident it'll be comfortable Smile

bojorojo · 08/02/2017 15:05

I have those taps! No problem here. Just make sure you can reach them across the bath though! They are better positioned at one end.

We like Duravit. Well made. Or Bathstore.

bojorojo · 08/02/2017 15:16

Google Kaldrwei and see who sells their baths near you! Ditto Duravit etc. Then go round to the showrooms and try the baths!

minipie · 08/02/2017 16:57

Hmm not sure about that bath OP, I;m not keen on the fake copper effect, if you want a copper bath get a real copper bath (costs a fortune mind)

From the same website this one is a lovely shape, however may not be generous inside, you'd have to see it in the flesh. this one might be comfier

Mapless · 08/02/2017 23:01

Yes I think you're right mini pie. I've thought about both of those. I'm also looking to try out the Landmark bath from the Bathstore. There isn't a show room within 50 miles it seems. Anyone tried it?

OP posts:
TheTeaFairy · 09/02/2017 08:48

I know bojoro, but I'll probably end up trekking miles just to sit in one bath that isn't comfy! I'd love to find a shop that has loads of them on display. My own fault for living out in the sticks Smile

minipie · 09/02/2017 10:15

Oh the Landmark looks lovely. I have a bathstore near me, may be able to get there next week sometime. However I am petite so may not be the best tester!
