Has anyone had a bad experience with diy kitchens.com?

Reviews online seem overwhelming positive.

Are they good at keeping on top of bad reviews or are they really as good as they appear?

Want to order but a little worried about not just being able to pop into a shop to sort any problems.

HI,

Only positive things to say about DIY Kitchens. Re: delivery it is worth noting that there are a few different options. I chose the most expensive both times as it involves having 2 people on a day of your choosing. They arrived promptly when they said they were going to.

I have just received the second kitchen but it's not been installed yet but the picture is of my last kitchen which was a luca matt handleless painted in lamp room grey. I have gone radically different this time (not) and gone with the same handleless one in matt white, I genueinely was that pleased with it.

I didn't have a great experience with their worktop company but that seemed to be an exception so I am going with a local company for them now.

Just had our kitchen from DIY kitchens. Couldn't recommend them enough. Our builder had used them before so reassured us about the quality & ease of delivery. One thing was slightly damaged but it was no hassle getting it replaced. Found their customer service really helpful. We used a local granite company for our worktops who were so impressed with the kitchen that they have ordered some units for their showroom.

Love both those kitchens! Swoon!!

Suzyrut is the integrated dishwasher easy to open?

Clubclassic is that the Norton range? Would you be able to take a pic of your drawers and state the width at all? Sorry to be cheeky but just want to see what they oook like as the showroom only ad a very small display.

lazybutton · 23/02/2017 13:00

clubclassic please could you let me know what colour(s) your kitchen is? I'm struggling to decide on a grey and yours looks fab!

suzyrut · 23/02/2017 13:39

Hi,

Yes diswasher was easy to open in terms of the handle. First dishwasher we had broke though and had to get a second, that was harder to open but that was because we went with a cheap dishwasher as were selling rather than the door!

HomeExtender · 23/02/2017 13:59

Many thanks Suzyrut. We've only recently replaced our integrated dishwasher but if we needed a new one would get a touch one so easy to open. Thanks again, good to know!

Hi
Just had my DIY kitchens delivered yesterday, it is in the garage to be installed
No issues at all with the delivery. We were kept informed of the delivery day and time by regular text/email.We chose two man delivery that costs 150pounds. They were very efficient and polite.

HeyMacWey · 24/02/2017 09:30

Lovely to hear lots more positive reports.

@clubclassic - which kitchen is yours? I'm getting confused with the multiple shaker options and colours :o

My extension isn't built yet but I ordered my DIY kitchen in the January sales GrinGrinGrin. They allow you to choose a delivery date way into the future. The date & order can be changed up-to 3 weeks before. They have been very helpful so far with numerous questions I've asked. Posts like this make me feel good about it! I've ordered the malton shaker style in lamp room grey but the island in graphite. Getting the marble veneto (grey & white) laminate worktop from B&Q as I prefer the pattern to the DIY ones.

Bellatrixandstrange · 26/02/2017 18:08

My DIY kitchen is being fitted. The fitter had never seen one before but has been really positive and said that the quality is better than howdens and b and q. The ordering was easy and the delivery was OK, I paid for the two ppl to deliver because I'm pregnant and ended up having to take two days off work because they give you a two day slot. Was a bit annoyed that they came at 9pm on the second day. Having said that the delivery men were polite, stacked it all really carefully in the garage and can't fault them. I would buy from them again and they were loads cheaper than everywhere else we looked.

Old thread but having problems with DIY Kitchens. Loved the reviews and showroom. Happy to take your money but they checked my order against my kitchen design and ended up with an additional cupboard I have no use for. They aren’t refunding the cost but have offered to refund delivery costs if something else i had to order. It doesn’t cover the cost of the cupboard. They also advised I needed a 50 mm integrated microwave. This was too small. John Lewis were brilliant though and accepted the return and replaced with larger microwave. Also I made a mistake and needed to return two cupboards and order two new ones. They aren’t bespoke and they won’t accept them which I think is in breach of the distance selling laws. Delivery is v expensive and unless you spend £250 you get v little info re date. £1k down. Quality of units great though. Wouldn’t go with them again. Customer service is quick but poor with a cumbersome website.

wowfudge · 09/10/2017 22:23

Pretty sure their Ts and Cs are very clear on what you can and can't return. Why do you think they should take back units you ordered in error?

They have offered to refund some delivery charges for you so I think you are being unreasonable. It's not as if they have just said "tough". Without more details, it's impossible to comment on the microwave.

The delivery options are clearly set out on the website - we had to pay for a smaller vehicle delivery as our access is awkward. We still saved 50% on another quote we had.

Sell your surplus unit on Facebook or eBay.

RandomnMe · 10/10/2017 06:56

Wowfudge don’t think it’s reasonae that whe they made a mistake with the order I lose out? They told me I needed 50mm rather than 60mm integrated microwave. Re my mistake - yes it was mine but checking out the statutory protections and initial research suggests that DIY are wrong. Like everyone else I was impressed but my experience is not good. You don’t work for them do you? 😕

wowfudge · 10/10/2017 07:50

No I don't work for them! We don't know all the details of your conversations or correspondence with them. They added a cupboard you didn't need and told you the wrong microwave size. Although annoying, the microwave issue is resolved. Why was there a cupboard you don't need? Were your measurements accurate? They've offered a refund of delivery charges. You've tried to get them to take back something you ordered in error and they won't. Why should they when you have said it was your mistake?

The details about delivery in your OP are irrelevant - you pay your money and you take your choice. They very clearly tell you how much notice you will get for each option.

Ramona75 · 10/10/2017 08:18

I agree with wowfudge, their T&Cs are perfectly clear on their website and so is their pricing and delivery costs. They separate delivery costs and don’t factor them into the price already, like many others do. Even with £250 delivery added, their kitchens are still mega cheap. Was your plan incorrect? They state they do not offer a design service and will give you the units that you specify in your order and and help you out if they think that you have made a mistake.

RandomnMe · 10/10/2017 08:29

There are three separate issues:
1The mistake to the extra cupboard was entirely theirs and not mine. They added to the order and won’t refund the cost. No refund for it, only partial against delivery. They had my plan and I was entitled to rely on their advice.

  1. The microwave issue was resolved by John Lewis, not them. If JL hadn’t been so good (it was out the box) that would have been a problem.
  2. Re my mistake - terms and condiitions do not appear to comply with the legislation - I am checking it out.
Just a warning to others of my experiences with DIY given the title of the thread.
RandomnMe · 10/10/2017 10:18

And the point is to help others understand these are the issues they may face with DIY. Don’t rely upon them to get things right as if they make a mistake, the customer pays for it I’m afraid 😕

WhatwouldOliviaPopedo · 10/10/2017 10:38

Clubclassic, I love your flooring! What is it, and was it expensive? We're getting our new kitchen from DIY Kitchens and it will be similar to yours in style and colour (without the island), so I might have to copy the floor too! Grin

MadamPoppylikesshoes · 04/03/2018 11:22

We haven't had a great experience so far and, three weeks on, are still awaiting news of all our doors that we had to send back as damaged. Contact from the company has been non-existent so we've had to chase for updates. Told they would be back within a few days and still waiting. I wouldn't recommend I'm afraid, sorry.

Missnearlyvintage · 18/03/2018 10:04

MadamPoppy - have your door issues been resolved now?

DIY kitchens are our number one option for our new kitchen at the moment after pricing up and looking at reviews from the other big companies and some local smaller ones...

Thanks!

Humptynumpty02 · 18/03/2018 23:33

We ordered in the Jan sales, very pleased with them thus far. We've ordered the Helmsley but didn't want the cockbead finish so asked if it could be removed, absolutely no issues from DIY. They are also creating a custom larder unit and customer services have been great answering questions. Can't wait to receive and install in a couple of months time.

hiddenmnetter · 19/03/2018 01:00

We're about to order our kitchen and utility room from them on Wednesday. So far customer service has been hit & miss. The clear pricing is outstanding and far cheaper than other suppliers.

The first person I dealt with was fantastic- but getting him to call back was a pain. When I couldn't get through to him dealt with another colleague who was pretty tragic. Hopefully get it all sorted and clear by the time we order on Wednesday!!

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 19/03/2018 09:22

Watching with interest. We have a great quote from Wickes and Howdens are going to at least match it

I have emailed DIY kitchens but am nervous about the delivery aspect and our builder is concerned about how quickly we can get any replacement parts which could increase fitting costs if the fitter is there doing nothing

Toothfairee · 19/03/2018 12:43

I added a post earlier and it hasnt been added ?
