Critique my kitchen layout please

I'm about to make what I consider to be the most important decision of my life (seriously, months and months of planning, researching, speaking to designers, going to showrooms, visiting friends and acquaintances with new kitchens) and I need a fresh pair of eyes please.
Note the door on the bottom right of the plan is where you enter the kitchen from the hall. The area to the left is the dining room.
The cupboards on the right in between the doors look a bit weird but they're under a sloping ceiling.

I'm confused - where's your fridge? On mobile so can't zoom in, sorry. Hob being so far from the oven would really annoy me

I don't like the way the oven isn't "in" the kitchen, IYSWIM. I think constantly having to walk from the worktop space to the oven and carrying things back and forth would get really annoying. If it were me I'd integrate the oven into the actual kitchen area and replace one of the cupboards. I don't like that general area if I'm honest - it looks like the unit is too big and bulky.

Apart from that it looks great!

Oh I see, your fridge is next to your oven. Sorry, I don't like it. Seems a lot of walking to get to all the bits of the 'working triangle' (sink, fridge and cooking areas should be at the points of a triangle according to ideal home).

Why is it you've chosen this layout? How much and what kind of cooking do you do?

Have you thought about the layout in terms of how you'd use it? So making tea; making coffee; doing the lunch-bags; breakfast etc; baking.....
Did mine to minimise walking around.
Think exact layout is probably personal, but don't think it would work for me.

In my opinion cookers should be near to outside doors/walls so they aren't pumping heat into the house. it either makes your dining room uncomfortably hot on hot days or messes with your thermostat on cold days when heating on. Sorry do you want me to stop? I don't want to be horrid.

Your fridge is going to have to work harder to keep at the right temperature being right beside the oven!! I'd also move the oven into the kitchen area and swap out a cupboard. Other than that it's lovely!

Where do you put something hot when you take it out of oven?
You have to lean over seats at breakfast bar to put it on worktop

Having people sitting at the breakfast bar, getting something hot out of the oven and having it carry it to the other side of the sink to put it down might annoy me. But I do more cooking of the "stuff it in the oven" type than others perhaps ?

Is that ovens in the run of tall units? If so won't it be a pain to have to go round the peninsula each time? And I haven't really understood the lie of the doors but won't you be getting hot stuff out with nowhere to immediately put it down whilst in a thoroughfare?
The other thing is I see two deep pan drawers but no shallow drawers for cutlery and tea towels etc.

I'd carry units on round corner top right and put oven there

I would up the oven in the corner to the right of the sink, at the moment the oven is in the walkway to the dining area and is increasing the likely hood of kids running past when you open the oven/have something hot in your hands.
I would make that are just storage and have the fridge to the left of that are so you don't have to walk around the island to it

Yes the fact that the oven isn't in the kitchen bit bothers me a bit too but moving it along the run of tall units I thought might look a bit weird (at the moment it's symmetrical).
We originally had a design without the adjacent peninsula but I worried that the floor space wasn't being utilised. (see original plan)
The deep drawers have internal shallow cutlery drawers.
And no, don't stop, it's not horrid at all! I need to know as it's impossible to take a step back.

Where are you going to put oven trays when you get them out the oven? Carry them through the walk way into the main kitchen bit to the hob?

My sister had a similar layout where the oven was in the stack against the wall and the amount of times I saw her nearly drop hot food when she turned round and my niece was in her way. I like the lines of it but practically, I think you'll regret having to walk round people sat at the island to put down hot food and serve up.

Personally I would put the oven in the top right corner. Swap the hob and sink placement so you can put stuff in the oven from the hob and vice versa.

I'd keep the seating but I'm a sucker for a breakfast bar.

Where the oven and fridge are now I'd have a run of tall units for storage.

I think id probably have seperate fridge and freezer and put them bottom right under the sloping ceiling.

That should create a triangle between the oven / hob, sink, and fridge/freezer.

I think if it bothers you now, it'll bother you a sight more when you're cooking a big Sunday roast and are tooing and froing with people walking through with plates and drinks.

?lose the back door and put the whole oven/ fridge in there?

My previous house had oven at end of run of tall units, door to dining room on one side, fridge on other. No work surface. We added island to provide a surface but as someone pointed out, uou have to do 180 degree turn and avoid people lurking behind you

I think the tall units with oven looks lovely, I like symmetry. But functionality is more important than aesthetics in a kitchen

The question asking "How much and what kind of cooking do you do?"
Frankly I'm not much of a cook. Mostly dinners for the family and nothing particularly adventurous.
So when I take something out of the oven, i need somewhere to put it down and the nearest worktop is behind me - this could be awkward not to mention dangerous for the people sitting at the breakfast bar.
Presumably then the oven needs to be moved into the kitchen area (to the right of the sink is a good option). Then at least it's not next to the fridge. Or in the walkway.
I also thought going round the peninsula each time to get to the fridge/cupboards etc. might be a pain. Does that mean the second plan is more preferable? This leaves a large floor area - is that a problem?

I like the peninsula as long as oven is moved.
Your kitchen is a little light on large work surfaces, the biggest area is in the top left corner (just like my kitchen) so keeping the peninsula would given you nice roomy prep area.
I'm not much of a cook but added an island to create a decent prep area.
It's been much more of a benefit than I ever hoped. It also creates social shared area.

My DH has recently become much more interested in cooking. It's nice to have an area we can share whilst cooking.

Put oven in bin area.
Put bin under peninsula. Then as you open packets etc you have recycling bins right there to put plastic trays,, tins, potato peelings etc.

That makes perfect sense, yes.
And then I don't need to worry about the symmetry of the tall units, the fridge can be the nearest one to the kitchen and the others can be larders and storage for crockery.

Do you particularly want a waist level oven or would an under counter one or range be a possibility?
