Holy Moly we've only flipping exchanged!!!!! Nothing for weeks, then a flurry of activity today and requests to transfer money asap and then we've done it! So pleased. Flowers Wine to everyone who's still waiting. Cannot describe how happy I feel.

Very busy and stressful day for me today;buyer wanted a pre exchange viewing so spent the whole day blitzing the house. Viewing went really well and buyer very positive so optimistic that we will exchange by Monday. Fingers crossed (and for everyone else) that we are nearingthe end of this massively stressful journey. Really dont feel I can do it much longer and can't wait to get on with life. Wine and Cake for all.

Avon that's such great news! Whoop!

When is expected completion?

I'm getting a bit desperate today. I don't know why really as nothing has changed. I just feel.... Useless! Standing around waiting for my solicitors to do their thing, I trust they're doing what needs to be done, but I can't wait for exchange!

Thank you. Completion beginning of September. It's such a hard process - endless waiting, no control. Good luck to everyone Smile

Just tracked our case online and can see we are officially 4 weeks in now.

Only 15 working days until I thought we'd move. Shit. I don't think we're going to make it.

Arggh just had a message that the buyer wants to discuss a significant reduction after the second survey. The fact that there is work needed was bleeding obvious and reflected in the asking price. Torn between staying strong and just saying 'take the bloody thing'!!!

Completing tomorrow and feeling horrendous.

Our vendor has been such a shit throughout this whole process that I fully expect him to refuse to move out/refuse to hand over the keys/try to cancel the completion at the last moment/totally trash the place etc etc etc.

I'm a nervous wreck! Can't wait to get those keys in my hand and for it just to be OVER. Then I can start being excited again about the beautiful house we've bought and will live in FOREVER NEVER MOVING AGAIN.

Heyhey, fingers crossed it all goes smoothly after all you have been through.

This too shall pass..... And it will be worth it.

DH suggested we could do up the house we are buying, the sell it, buy a plant and self build (again! We built the house before the one we are in now).

Nooooooooo. Never again.

Chillywhippet · 14/08/2016 23:00

Obvs that should be buy a plot, not buy a plant. Not planning to build a tree house.
Although it would have been quicker Wink

Twodogs hope that the reduction requested is not too significant.

Good luck with your move heyhey, hope it all goes smoothly for you and then you can relax and enjoy your new home.
Twodogs, hope you have worked out your issue with your buyer's reduction request. The whole process is horrible isnt it, not being in control of the situation, all the waiting and impact that the others involved in the process can have on your life. I have found it all so frustrating, Brew and Cake for all.
I am hoping for exchange either today or tomorrow so keeping my fingers firmly crossed.

Two dogs how'd it go?? Wine

Hey hey I reallllly hope that's not the case and that completion goes super smooth. Wonder why he has been such a dick?! Is it a forced sale?

I've had to let go out expected completion date, tell the movers etc. So disappointed that we won't get in before school starts. Just a headache I really didn't need. But there you go!

Good luck today Heyhey. Come back later and tell us how smoothly it went and how excited you finally are!

We complete on Friday and are seeing the flat tomorrow to check the condition of it assuming the tenant has gone.

Good luck Hey Hey.

They haven't specified a figure yet. I'm torn as I think the asking price reflected the work needed. It was realistic and I had 2 offers on the first day at asking price.

My DP and DF are advising me to stand my ground but half of me just wants shot of the place. Even if it sells at asking price I won't be making a massive profit. It's taken 10 years for the property market there to recover to a point where I won't be in negative equity!!

Report
Spickle · 15/08/2016 08:52

Twodogs - I'd be inclined to decline any lower offers. If the price reflected that work needed to be done and the overall condition of the property would suggest that a fair amount of updating was needed, then your buyers would have been aware that further expense would be necessary. Sounds like they are using this as an excuse to save some of those costs. If you had two asking price offers on the first day, then you would have no problem selling to someone else (and I bet your buyers know that!). Speak to your EA and see if those earlier potential purchasers would be still interested if your buyers pull out and although it might delay matters, these current buyers could mess you around all the way through the process.

Thanks for all the good luck wishes Cake

Nervy yes it is, more or less - don't want to say too much as quite identifying but he seems to be a lying shit to everyone, not just us!

To be honest if this wasn't THE HOUSE we would have walked away, but it is. It is THE HOUSE.

I'm at work but DH just texted to say they are OUT and the EA has the keys! Our solicitor has made the transfer so just waiting for the vendor's solicitor to confirm receipt ShockGrinShockGrin

I love that it's THE HOUSE!
I bet you'll make it such a lovely home. So pleased for you!!

My vendor emailed to say his solicitors say mine aren't doing anything and mine are saying the same for his. Grrrr

Thanks everyone for this amazingly supportive thread. Have to get cleaning now as OF COURSE they have left it filthy and full of rubbish. But I'm going to look after this house now like it deserves :)

Fantastic news Hey Hey. Hope you're enjoying a takeaway drinking gin out of a mug.

I've given in and agreed to a 3k price reduction. The thought of going through the whole process again was too much. Any further quibbling and it's back on the market.
