Oh no Adrienne! Would you still go ahead if you were able to re-negotiate the sale price?

StepAwayFromTheThesaurus · 17/05/2016 08:00

That's very frustrating prickly. It's very annoying when you feel like you've been strung along when they could just have been honest.

Sorry the survey's so disappointing adrienne. Personally, I think that the lack of planning permission is less of an issue than its made out on MN. There are timescales for enforcement (which may well have passed) and the vendors will just buy an indemnity anyway. The problem is where you need to do remedial and repair work. Are you going to ask for a reduction?

readingrainbow · 17/05/2016 11:50

That would be gutting, Adrienne. I hope you can find the right solution for you; we decided that every house will have issues and we're willing to accept that up to a point. I don't know where the line is, however. We wouldn't have the money to immediately repair major faults even with a price reduction.

Three days to go, aaaaahhh! Is it an acceptable practice on mn to share photos?

Canklesofglitter · 17/05/2016 11:57

That sounds like a nightmare Adrienne. I'd be concerned about what's lurking under all of that too. If they've extended without permission have they had gas work done by a Corgi fitter for example? You can at least get that checked.

Temp we viewed a house with an aubergine and white kitchen - 'twas very lovely! Much lovelier than the rest of the house sadly!

Mortgage broker coming tonight to do the mortgage application. Just hounding our accountant to get our accounts done (DH runs a limited company) so we can hand those over the the mortgage company. We know the figures because we do the accounts up to P&L stage but the accountant needs to prettify them and make them official and proper!

I am now window shopping for wallpaper and sofas...

Heyheyheygoodbye · 17/05/2016 15:08

Oh

Heyheyheygoodbye · 17/05/2016 15:13

Hmm thanks phone

'Oh no Adrienne' that was supposed to say! Sounds like such a lot of work - I guess you are trying to decide between binning the money you've already spent, or potentially having to spend a lot more!

Prickly that sounds very frustrating. I swear the entire process is a web of deceit.

Cankles - exciting times! Hope it goes well. And Reading I absolutely want to see photos Grin

I'm feeling pretty good. Had a text from Nationwide that our formal offer is on the way in the post, woohoo! Turns out vendor's solicitor still hasn't done their draft contract...so the (v annoyed) vendor is putting a rocket up them today. I've found a sofa I want but the price is giving DH the frits.

TitsDown · 17/05/2016 16:41

Oh adrienne - that sounds so disappointing. What's your plan?

Definitely want to see photos reading (and anyone else who feels ready to show off).

Go cankles !!

I've been waiting on my mortgage offer and it turns out my employer has been sat on my reference which is holding it up. Really annoying because (when I'm not on mat leave) it's my job to reply to references and I always do them immediately, but my staff have sat on it since last Tues. Grrr.

All the legal paperwork is done though we can't push ahead to get exchange and completion dates until mortgage is sorted. Hope work send it today.

TitsDown · 17/05/2016 16:46

PS well done on the mortgage heyhey - hope that rocket does the trick!

kirinm · 17/05/2016 17:08

Tits - do mortgage lenders always get a reference from employers? I can imagine mine would be ridiculously slow so I'd like to prepare myself for chasing them.

I already feel like this is going to be months of chasing people.

readingrainbow · 17/05/2016 17:13

OK, then! :)

It's an end terrace with a drive and carport. 6 beds, 2 baths, 2 reception, kitchen diner, small utility and a cellar with 3 rooms. It's enormous. Good thing, as we have 5 DC!!

We are keeping the range cooker!!

Honestly I don't think we'll need to do much redecorating, although the faux snake skin wallpaper will have to go at some point.

It's fabulous, reading! Those stonking great windows! Very jealous. Grin

readingrainbow · 17/05/2016 17:50

Thanks. :) I'm never, ever leaving.

Heyheyheygoodbye · 17/05/2016 18:20

It's beautiful!! Congrats Grin

TitsDown · 17/05/2016 19:19

I don't think they always need one kirin - it's because I'm on mat leave so my declared salary doesn't match my earnings evidence so they need to confirm it. (And DP is freelance/SAHD so whole mortgage is on my earnings)

reading that is INCREDIBLE. I'm so jealous you'll be in this week. Friday is my birthday, so it's a good day to move!

I'm itching to share pics too but will wait til contracts are exchanged in case of some sort of jinx.

TitsDown · 17/05/2016 19:28

Also reading - I'm one of 5DC and I know you need the space! We moved into a 6 bed house when we all hit our teens (9 yr spread, I was 11). Introduction to our own rooms were much appreciated! SmileSmileSmileSmileSmile

StepAwayFromTheThesaurus · 17/05/2016 19:38

It looks lovely. What a fantastic big kitchen diner. The fake snakeskin feature wall is a great feature to amuse your friends and family until you get round to redecorating.

Congrats on the mortgage offer hey hey.

Kirin: no mortgage I've ever had has involved an employer reference. They were only ever interested in seeing 3 months payslips.

Nothing interesting happening here. Still waiting for responses to queries. DH prodded the solicitor and will prod again tomorrow.

readingrainbow · 17/05/2016 19:39

Happy early birthday. :) My DC are desperate for their own space; this rental is teeny tiny and we are always bumping elbows. I'm sure our recent behaviour issues will settle once we can all breathe. Looking forward to five happy children!!

Thanks everyone. Looking forward to ogling other houses. Grin

kirinm · 17/05/2016 21:59

Ah thanks guys, that's one less thing to chase. I've been annoying my solicitor all day.

Reading it's gorgeous! It's so big and light! Congratulations. You must be so excited now.

Temporaryanonymity · 17/05/2016 22:13

My mortgage co took up refs from my current employer AND my last employer!

Canklesofglitter · 17/05/2016 23:10

Reading that's gorgeous!

We saw the mortgage advisor tonight an are good to go. Just waiting on the accounts for DH's company now - blardy accountant who looks after them has gone on holiday but the senior partner is going to look them over and provide evidence of income - hopefully that will suffice for the lender.

I am just stressing about the credit check now as you hear of people being turned down for such silly things. We pass affordability checks by a margin of over 100% but I won't settle until I know we're through that.

The advisor suggested that we get our own homebuyers report as the lender ones are expensive and they only want a basic valuation. Need to sort that out now.

Mortgage broker thinks it could all be done in 4 weeks

I am distracting myself by pondering if navy blue sofas would be a bad idea or not...

readingrainbow · 17/05/2016 23:15

I think dh had a reference due to him being a new employee. His boss replied the same day, so that wasn't a huge holdup.

We probably slowed down the process more than anything; so much paperwork to send and I had no access to a scanner so it was all sent by post. Uuurrrgh.

kirinm · 17/05/2016 23:34

We had luckily got most of our stuff together for the mortgage in principle and I have scanned and saved loads of things to my PC and / or emails over the years. Even had scanned copies of our passports from a tenancy agreement 2 years ago!

Skittlesss · 18/05/2016 07:33

Oh wow reading - your house looks fantastic. I love those windows :)

Skittlesss · 18/05/2016 07:36

We aren't doing so good. We've been ready to exchange for over a week now and just having a bad feeling about things. Our vendors aren't really responding to our conveyancers asking when they'll be ready etc and I just feel like they're going to pull out. When we went to look round they said they'd already changed their mind last year about selling and decided to redecorate instead, but then changed again at Christmas and decided to sell. We offered about 4 weeks after it went on the market. Just got a really bad feeling about it all. Keep looking at the photos and crying. Wish it wasn't such an emotional decision, why'd I get so attached? Sad
