Help me with bathrooms, show me yours and thoughts...

I'm in the middle of a large extension/remodel and loosing my mind I've 4 bathrooms/shower rooms to buy.

I had thought I'd wanted something traditional but today I've been looking at modern bathrooms and now I think I want this.

Please show me what you have and any thoughts on what I should do :/
I'm worried I'll bore of traditional and modern will date :/ this is our forever house so we will be spending a lot, and dh will kill me if I want to,change it in a couple of years time.

The house is late 70s early 80s but quite cottage like, lots of eaves/small windows etc.

I think that marble in your second choice is beautiful and very classic. It won't date. We're putting marble into our en suite bathroom when we re-do it next year.

The shower is simple and unlikely to date.

The bath will probably date but switching a bath out is no big deal.

ooh a chance to show off mine (finished 2 days before Christmas. I have done the opposite. Have usually had more modern style due to space issue but having moved to an Edwardian semi have gone for a traditional style. However went with aqua lisa shower but period style Fired Earth tiles. Vanity unit from Neptune, everything else from Ridgeons.

I think both look nice. Marble is gorgeous but £££ and you have to be careful with it - we discounted it for family bathroom for that reason.

I do think though that most things date really so just spend on decent fixtures and make sure you have an excellent supply of hot water.

I ordered pretty much everything for my recently completed wetroom online and got my hansgrohe raindance shower from Germany for about a third of the price. It is fab.

I am getting this one but in a lighter colour. Classic rather than traditional? Pairing with mid size white wall tiles from Johnsons and wood effect porcelain tiles.

HereIam your bathroom is gorgeous. Ive been looking for a vanity unit like that so I am off to browse neptune.

hereiam20 what you have is very similar to what I was thinking, I have had burlington vanities quoted for and was thinking either fired earth or similar but cheaper :/ your bathroom is truly beautiful.

mrscampbell I've been looking at very large tiles that are porcelain but faux marble, so wouldn't have all of the issues marble have.

redhat look at burlington and porter vanities too.

tremelo umm yours is very classic too isn't it. Maybe my initial thoughts were right... Re questioning myself now :/...

I got my Fired Earth ones in the sale and the floor is actually wood effect porcelain tiles (with underfloor heating) as mentioned by Tremolo above.

hereiam where is your light fitting from? Am quite keen on a chandelier for our ridiculously huge bathroom but there are so few nice ones out there that meet the regulation thingies for bathrooms.

Where did you both get the wood effect tiles from? Are the pocelanosa?

Marble bathroom is lovely, the first bathroom is v dull and predictable

The tiles were from a local independent close to us in Cambridge - Reza's Tiles. They are Treverk Roma tiles by Marazzi. We got them for £29.50 per m2.

I love natural stone but not for any money would I ever have marble on the floor of a bathroom. It is slippery as fuck if ever so slightly damp, even the tumbled one. I'd go for rough travertine in white tones or very high end anti-slip ceramic so you can't tell it's not real.

They (the bathrooms) are both examples of styles rather than actuals, the modern one was by the company I'm thinking of using though, so the tiles are probably what we'd go for.

These are the vanities I've been looking at (although the modern would be a large single rather than a double).

horton yes I'm thinking of a faux marble, the thought of not being able to throw bleach around scares me!

Intrigued by the modern cottage. Our house was a rural 1930s cottage which was vandalised heavily renovated in the 70s and then a large semi-sympathetic extension tacked on in the 80s. The style I am going for is classic/modern country with some nods to the original style and lots of 20th C design and handcrafted elements. How are the bathrooms going to fit into your overall vision?

Ps, I imagine we have somewhat different budgets if you are considering Fired Earth etc

tremelo I have looked at tiles from FE but I doubt we can afford them, I've also looked at tons of tiles. I was thinking if we only tiled bits we could get more expensive tiles.

Yes - that's we did. The FE tiles were on sale 25% off and we only tiled inside the shower cubicle. They were £74.70 full price (Sucre from their Patisserie range). So they can be affordable if used sparingly.

Karcheer - don't know where you live but I believe FE have a factory shop in Oxfordshire where they sell off discontinued lines etc at really cheap prices but you have to go to the showroom. Its a case of seeing which you like and whether they have enough for what you want.

Also FE will take back what you don't use even odd tiles if it is within 28 days of purchase.
