Buildteam - Clapham based company "Side return specialists"

Daisy123abc · 23/12/2015 00:29

Hello world. Has anyone else used this company?
I am seeking others who may have had issues similar to the ones we have experienced in order to convince me that it wasn't all just our bad luck.
We are in recovery (and may need therapy) from using Buildteam's services. A truly ghastly experience which has included: delays, empty promises, appalling customer service, hidden costs, serious disinterest in quality, non English speaking workforce, major building errors, staff changes, some dishonesty, absent project management etc.
The list goes on and on.
Given our experience, their shiny website now reads like an imaginative comedy script detailing all the things we didn't get. I have a huge file (think dossier) of documented evidence, including video, which provides examples of how we didn't. Blog, book, TV series and movie to follow. Maybe.
Who are all these happy customers? Why aren't I one of them?
If you are thinking of a side return I am happy to share details so you can make your own mind up but if you want my advice, don't go there.

Thanks FSIMF and also to everyone who has taken an interest in this story.
This was never a campaign. Instead our family became embroiled in a situation where my initial enquiry developed twists and turns primarily from sources external to myself.
All we have ever wanted was to get our lives back on track.

Good luck to you OP. Well done for making a stand against this hideous-sounding company.

dulwichquine · 23/05/2016 13:04

Well done Daisy123abc.

lalalonglegs · 23/05/2016 13:19

Can we have a new definition of Pyrrhic victory based on Buildteam's actions? They've gone from being (allegedly) incompetent to absolutely notorious. Well done, lads Hmm. Way to make yourselves toxic.

FatherReboolaConundrum · 23/05/2016 13:30

I was just browsing the Guardian site and saw this on their front page. Well done OP. Flowers Wine

Buildteam of Clapham seems to be just as successful at reputation management as they are at building Grin

origamiwarrior · 23/05/2016 13:40

Ha! Good luck BuildTeam with trying to get the Guardian article removed. That article will be spidered and on Google P1 results in no time.

(I just checked, and it's not there yet, although the disclaimer about the DCMA is prominently at the bottom of the page, with a link to this thread....)

SUCH an own goal!

BumbleNova · 23/05/2016 13:44

well done Daisy! just been reading the guardian article. fingers crossed its the final nail...

blibbka · 23/05/2016 13:44

Daisy,

Also read this on The Guardian - disgraceful behaviour (allegedly, of course).

It crossed my mind that one way of proving the authenticity or otherwise of the www.gotohomestay.com/buildteam-interior-designers/ post would be by use of the orginal photos.

The photos in the post there are low-resolution and not the high-resolution original images. It seems to me that only the original author could have the high-resolution versions in their possession and therefore if you were to provide them that would prove that the gotohomestay post is in fact plagiarised from you.

Seems all too simple - but perhaps an avenue worth exploring.

imip · 23/05/2016 13:55

Brilliant work daisy

LurcioAgain · 23/05/2016 14:06

I wonder if we can all bump this thread once a day to keep people stumbling over it even if it is un-googleable, and link to the Guardian article every time?

glintwithpersperation · 23/05/2016 18:43

Awesome work daisy 😀

kirinm · 23/05/2016 19:21

Hooray! Just seen the article. Well done Daisy and the mumsnet squad of posters.

lionheart44 · 24/05/2016 08:34

Huge congratulations to Daisy - you rock.

Is the same BuildTeam?

www.techdirt.com/articles/20160523/07223234522/fantastic-now-british-firms-are-getting-bogus-website-bogus-dmca-notice-scam.shtml#comments

Some interesting stuff going on in the background

BumbleNova · 24/05/2016 15:16

yes that is it Dadtaxi and yes I agree - I think we should keep this alive and make sure that whatever allegedly underhand tactics allegedly taken by Buildteam people should be aware before getting them to do any work.

its the bullying and the desperation (if true) that is so terrible

Peyia · 24/05/2016 15:54

They messed with the wrong person, well done Daisy for not allowing this - hopefully this will inspire others that didn't have your confidence (perseverance) Absolutely amazing coverage and exposure!!

FatherReboolaConundrum · 24/05/2016 16:21

Thanks for the link Dadtaxi - I see from the comments that the wiping of this thread from Google doesn't extend to other search engines. This thread is currently the 5th listed result if you google 'Buildteam Clapham' on Yahoo. This has to be one of the most staggering PR fuckups since Gerald Ratner told everyone his products were crap.

whois · 24/05/2016 16:54

Woooo hooooo I;m so happy you got that artical in the guardian Daisy.

Build Team don't know anything about the DMCA... ha ha bleeding ha.

Can't believe google haven't reinstated the thread. Time for google to sort their shit out.

imip · 25/05/2016 20:04

Bump Grin

LurcioAgain · 25/05/2016 20:28

And bump again.

If you live in London and are planning an extension, read this thread, and check out this article before using a company called Buildteam.

And Google - get your act together and stop letting dishonest con artists use faked up websites and DMCA notices to suppress perfectly legal criticism.

imip · 25/05/2016 21:46

^^what she said!!

blibbka · 25/05/2016 22:23

I see that this thread appears to be back in Google's search results... 2nd result for "Buildteam"?

LurcioAgain · 25/05/2016 22:42

Result!

Well done Daisy.

whatsthatcomingoverthehill · 26/05/2016 14:27

Well don't you know, I just did a search for Buildteam, and this thread was the 2nd result.
