What colour walls with this stair carpet?

Just had the stairs done in grey striped carpet and it looks fab but the walls now look very cream! Need to redecorate anyway, so, other than white, which I'm not keen on, what colours would go? Carpet is 3 different shades of grey plus white.

There's a window directly to the left at the top of the stairs so it's ok up there, but the front door is currently wooden with a tiny glass pane which makes the hallway dark. I'm planning on changing the door for one with more glass at some point though, but can't afford to do it right now.

Yes that's worked! Love that colour; I think you've just found THE ONE! Grin

Yay! I think they will have testers so you can see it in your light. I love the carpet btw I'm tempted by stripes for our upper staircase.

You could use a green or yellow with grey

I wasn't going to go for stripes as I have stripes (graphite grey, purple and lilac) in my bedroom, and I wasn't sure if it would look too much when the door is open into the landing, but my fab carpet fitter has managed to line the stripes up perfectly and it looks good :) I've had no carpet at all for the last 8 months, as there was laminate on the stairs when I bought the house, which I thought was an accident waiting to happen, so I ripped it up! The floor underneath was crap though, so I've had to have the whole staircase fixed and overlaid in plywood to make it stable enough to lay carpet.

Dulux dusted fondant would work well, it's a bit of a chameleon colour, could be mauveish or greyish. We've got it on onevwall of our bedroom and it's warm for a cool colour ifyswim

Yes I like that as well :) I'm on a mission to get some testers for these colours do I can see what they look like in real life. Went to b&q today but nothing took my fancy!
