It was sold a couple of years ago but it needed work then. Now it's back. SO GORGEOUS! Anybody want to lend me about 2.2 million?

omg, Pipbin, well spotted re the furniture swapping.

Which makes me wonder what is wrong with the rest of the house if they are going to that much effort for one room?

CarmelasFridge · 01/08/2015 18:58

The unicorn is special.

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 01/08/2015 19:46

I love the first one. But the second one? wow!!! even better!

seafoodeatit · 01/08/2015 19:53

The outside is wonderful, the decor is just, blah, very put together and mismatch.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 01/08/2015 20:00

bigkids I love that bathroom - I want it Envy yeah, yeah, the rest of the house is ok too

Jo4040 · 01/08/2015 20:04

Give me a two up two down anyway...that's not a home

bigkidsdidit · 01/08/2015 20:07

I want the library nook

APlaceOnTheCouch · 01/08/2015 20:18

I'm starting to develop a liking for tweed cushions now too. I'm going to have to buy some (which is the closest I'll get to any of those houses atm) Grin

TheoriginalLEM · 01/08/2015 20:23

Kitchen is awful, what were they thinking? everything else is lovely.

Plateofcrumbs · 01/08/2015 20:32

I like Arts and Crafts but not sold on the interior of that house - I like the original features but the rest is not to my taste, particularly the purple kitchen, what were they thinking?

Love the Scottish house bigkids linked to though - if I had a spare 1.75m I'd be in there

Northernlurker · 01/08/2015 20:37

I actually like the purple kitchen Grin

Also Grin at the 'mock style' remark. That's the whole arts and crafts movement knackered then.

Ginismyfriend · 01/08/2015 20:38

Ha, I also live in YO24 and my house does not look like that. I love it... Reckon they'd swap for a knackered semi?

BigRedBall · 01/08/2015 20:41

Eew. Is that artex on the ceiling? It's horrible and big and not homely at all.

Northernlurker · 01/08/2015 21:26

No that's NOT artex. That's ' the elaborate plasterwork by George Bankart' and is a top class period feature.

OP posts:
Kaekae · 01/08/2015 21:28

A bit dark for me and I don't like the purple.

emotionsecho · 01/08/2015 21:43

I like it Northern, when you are in residence I'd like Pimms and croquet on the lawn in the summer please, and then in the winter hot toddy in front of a roaring fire after a bracing walk!

Northernlurker · 01/08/2015 21:49

You would HAVE to play Croquet wouldn't you? It's probably in the deeds or something.

OP posts:
ouryve · 01/08/2015 21:53

I must be weird because I love the wood panelling, but it looks so draughty. We'd rattle around in it.

And the boys would still cover every inch of floor with lego.

ouryve · 01/08/2015 21:54

And I do love a wedding cake ceiling, but not on quite such a large scale!

emotionsecho · 01/08/2015 21:55

Yep, it screams Croquet on the lawn and those wicker Lloyd Loom (?) chairs.

PlainHunting · 01/08/2015 21:56

The interior is awful but lovely from the outside.

BigRedBall · 01/08/2015 22:05

"No that's NOT artex. That's ' the elaborate plasterwork by George Bankart' and is a top class period feature."

Well...He obviously wasn't very talented was he? Wink

pearlgirl · 01/08/2015 22:21

If you miss out - you could always play croquet at the National Trust house nearby - not quite the same as on one's own lawn but fun anyway.

Pipbin · 01/08/2015 22:29

Well...He obviously wasn't very talented was he?

Yeah because your standard artexer can do this:

Totally lust after this house

I'm currently making my way through the Forsyte Saga box set. This house matches perfectly - love it!

I also dream of a garden like that.

Btw you can change the decor but is there an Edvard Munch scream emoticon for the person who said it was mock / they'd gut it? Shock
