Can't tell if this is deliberate super cool retro decor - or a deceased old lady?

I think its original but current owners didn't change it and added pieces as they liked it as it was iygwim. Some of it looks authentic and some a bit LivingEtc

Wow, its a beautiful house. It's the sort of stuff that will be covered over (in some tasteful farrow & ball grey so it looks like concrete).

Agree that the agent would only say 'requires modernisation' for old retro stuff. Plus the wrinkles in the carpet. I don't think its newly done.

Valsoldknickers · 29/12/2014 15:37

I vote for uber stylish hipster type. As another PP said it's too neat and dust free looking to be an old lady's (unless she lived by Marie Kondo's rules).

There are some amount of books as well!

I like it Smile

Purplehonesty · 29/12/2014 15:52

Old granny.

The details say in need of modernisation so it hasn't been touched for years I reckon.

What a price tag! Bet it will look beautiful when it is redecorated.

Page 7 made my head spin

My very elderly aunt has a similar house. She actually was just always really cool! She has a proper mega deep shag pile carpet and a lots of dark glass. It was state of the art in its day! Dreadful for a while. Supercool again now ??

I refer you to picture 6. :o

It's not dead old lady, it's downsizing oap....I'd put money on DM being friends with the owner.

I grew up in a house like this...you have no idea hue embarrassing that was in the '8os!

CockBollocks · 29/12/2014 17:34

The description says "in need of modernisation " so I'm going with older person downsizing.

Does look fab though and so well looked after.

2015 · 29/12/2014 17:35

Wow, I think it's fantastic. I think it was owned by a super trendy couple in the 1960's (or close enough) who put a lot of thought and money into decorating and then ....nothing. It's a time warp house.

Trills · 29/12/2014 17:38

I'll take it if you don't want it.

2015 · 29/12/2014 17:44

I've looked again and I can't see any sign of modernisation at all. It's all pretty old.

There is some really retro furniture there and I like some of the pictures.

My 95 year old grannies house is just as tidy and clean - she has a cleaner. Confused

VivaLeBeaver · 29/12/2014 17:45

Old person.

Hipsters would have better TVs.

Pooka · 29/12/2014 17:45

Old person - candlewick bedspread with hole in gives it away.

But love some of the wallpapers. Would be marvellous if the walls sound underneath, so could keep some of the rooms as is.

bringbacksideburns · 29/12/2014 17:47

Funky! I like it. Apart from the kitchen which is hideous.

ToomanyChristmasPresents · 29/12/2014 17:50

Wow! Mint condition mid century modern. I quite like it.

LizzieMint · 29/12/2014 17:54

I've changed my mind actually, I think the CRT TVs mean it probably is an old granny, but not a dead one.
My view is slightly coloured by the house we are trying to buy which was lived in by a now-deceased old man and it's completely neglected as he clearly couldn't manage it in his last years. Sad

twojumpingbeans · 29/12/2014 17:55

It's lovely, I'd love my home to look like that.

ScrambledSmegs · 29/12/2014 18:04

I KNOW THAT HOUSE.

Fucking caps lock. I'm not really that excited.

roneik · 29/12/2014 18:05

Well after watching all the benefit bashing programs on tv , I reckon it's the other end of the age spectrum that live like pigs in crap. Just for the record I have a super slim smart tv and was paid for with real pound notes too, well 20 pound notes

Lets not get too technical for the farra and bull sup crowd Grin

roneik · 29/12/2014 18:08

clucking caps lock ,never
Take off the mittens woman

ScrambledSmegs · 29/12/2014 18:08

Ahem. Older people lived there, although not been see for a while now.

N London hipsters generally have either better tvs or none at all, because they're so fucking intellekshuwal.

roneik · 29/12/2014 18:11

Are they hiding from you?Grin

IfNotNowThenWhen · 29/12/2014 18:12

Elderly hipsters.love the bathroom!

emeline · 29/12/2014 18:13

All the white paint work is very white. None of the windowsills are flaky. So it has been attended to. The red ceilinged room is self conscious.

Is it a multi generational house, perhaps.

There's not actual art on the walls, is there? Just generic wall hangings. I think it's a hodge podge of old person living there with middle aged offspring.

So original stuff, diluted somewhat, and maintained.
