Has anyone bought from Made.com?

I am looking for a new sofa for our kitchen/diner and like the look of some at Made.com - has anyone bought furniture from them? What is the quality like?

I've been tempted by a couple of things but have never bought as the long lead-in times for certain items puts me off. That and some of the reviews- you can read some of these on sites like Trustpilot if you google. I always take reviews with a pinch of salt but if a lot of people say the same thing it gives me pause. I'd be interested to know what replies you get here OP!

bigTillyMint · 17/06/2014 13:46

Oh thanks for that Alice - off to google!

Bought a sofabed from them. It's quite firm, I'd hate to use it as an every day sofa but it's to go in a home office so it's fine DH manages to snooze on it while he should be working
It's very well made and finished. No complaints about quality, just not sure we would have bought it if we'd seen it first.
Neighbours have bought loads of stuff from them and seem to love it.

HenI5 · 17/06/2014 15:38

Tilly if you use MN search there was a longer thread about this very recently (last week?)

IHeartKingThistle · 17/06/2014 15:39

We just bought some dining chairs and absolutely love them. Had to wait a while but their communication was great.

bigTillyMint · 17/06/2014 15:42

Thanks everyone - will search for the thread!

Bought this sofa from them

I am a bit so-so, the quality isn't as great as it looks on the web, it looks better and the fabric has faded quite quickly and we've only had it a year or so. I won't be making a beeline to order from them again.

bigTillyMint · 17/06/2014 18:13

That's not good, compo. Is it used a lot/particularly in the sun?

OP posts:
ComposHat · 17/06/2014 18:24

Not especially, although I didn't think we picked wisely on the colour front. The fit of the fabric isn't brilliant andIis a bit baggy. I'm not knocked out by the quality.

JohnFarleysRuskin · 17/06/2014 18:27

It's not in our 'best room' and we have young dc so didn't want anything too fancy but I love it. We have a very comfortable pinky purple chair and the sofa. I think it's good for the price so far.

ComposHat · 17/06/2014 18:34

Not especially, no children (although the cat tends to shed her fur all over it!) although I didn't think we picked wisely on the colour front and we've had quite a lot of building work done so some of it could be dust.

Nevertheless the fit of the fabric isn't brilliant and is a bit baggy around the arms, it is quite comfy though.

bigTillyMint · 17/06/2014 18:42

Bit baggy doesn't sound so good. We have no pets, but the teens sprawl everywhere! I was looking at a pink one and a turquoise one - I fear the turquoise one may be too pale.

JohnFarley, how long have you had yours?

OP posts:
Spurious · 17/06/2014 18:46

I bought this from them a year or so ago. V pleased, although they didn't include a bulb! And it took about 2 months to come.

JohnFarleysRuskin · 17/06/2014 18:46

Umm four months-ish, but I have to admit the sofa looked kind of tired when we got it- it's the denim blue- however I do love the dark pink chair - I think we should have got that colour sofa too but we were too timid.

I had a problem with a chest of drawers: it was much smaller than the measurements stated on the website, so it looked ridiculous in the space I'd planned to place it.

I emailed their customer services and they asked me to send a photo of a tape measure next to it showing the measurements (wtf?) now anyone who's tried to do this will know that this is nigh on impossible; close enough to see the tape measure and you could be holding the tape wrongly and too far back where you can see the extent of the tape measure and you can't see the numbers on it...

Anyway I did the best I could and heard nothing. Nada. Zilch from them. I emailed them several times (couldn't phone them as they didn't have a phone number - not sure if they do now) and I didn't not hear a bloody thing back from them. Dreadful, don't-give-a-shit service.

We kept the chest of drawers, had no choice really. I put it on the landing where it fills a smaller space, but my god I wouldn't go near them again with a barge pole as they seem totally unaware of the concept of customer care!

bigTillyMint · 17/06/2014 18:58

Spurious, I love the lamp!

JohnFarley, I would love a really bold colour, but it's for a specific and rather small space so we are a bit limited.

OP posts:
bigTillyMint · 17/06/2014 19:00

Mmeh, that sounds worrying.

I have been looking at Habitat sofa's too. Not sure if the extra ££ mean better quality/customer careConfused

OP posts:
Mmeh · 17/06/2014 19:03

bigTilly, I'm sure Made are great if you get what you want. However it could be a big waste of money if the product turns out to be disappointing (miss-sold even in my case!)

iwantgin · 17/06/2014 19:04

Timely thread. DH has been eyeing up a sofa bed from this company for his new man cave.

Seems reasonably priced?

Spurious · 17/06/2014 19:09

My kitchen chairs are all from Habitat.

Had them 5 years, one now cracked. (Have 6 they are plastic, y'know, posh plastic coloured ).

When I bought them, my mums friend said "Mmm. You have to remember the 'tat' in Habitat"

bigTillyMint · 17/06/2014 19:09

Well they are a very good price and I love the styles, but if they don't last/you get poor customer care, is it worth it?

The true measurements not tallying with the website is worrying - we need a sofa to specifically fit into a space!

OP posts:
bigTillyMint · 17/06/2014 19:13

SpuriousGrin So maybe not....

HenI5 · 17/06/2014 19:21

Found the old thread, you probably have better responses already on this one, I hadn't noticed when I posted on there that it was a resurrected zombie thread.

I had no problems with quality, however, I'm not going to buy from them again as the ordering and delivery times were too far apart, after all a lamp isn't the same kind of stock as sofas is it.

bigTillyMint · 17/06/2014 19:56

So, looking at John Lewis sofas... Surely they are decent quality?! Customer service is usually excellent there...

Parietal · 17/06/2014 20:12

i've ordered chairs - haven't arrived yet. but we went to the london showroom to see them and they looked fine.
