Can i paint a north facing living room with grey? Does a warm tone exist?

i really want to revamp the the living room.
currently i have a feature wall in plum/purple, oak floors , brown leather sofas. it looks warm and cosy but its been like this for a few years and i fancy a change.

I was thinking of grey and pale blue but its north facing. Does any paint company do a warm tone of grey. not too dark?

Yes, we painted our dining room in it ..... and everyone comments what a lovely grey it is. Room only gets sunshine late afternoon too. I'm very pleased with it too

Oh and we have oak dining table and sideboard with brown leather chairs.

I have F&B Manor House Grey, my family were horrified when they saw the tin opened, they loved the end result.

Pearl by little greene is grey with blue undertones. You can get different strengths of colour

Just read your post again. I'd pair various blues with an aged warm white colour personally. Will give it a nautical feel colour wise.

So I went to F&B today, I looked at the manor house grey plus some others by Provincial.
I'm just not sure now.
I really like the colours but I think it will look too cold.
There is plenty of light but no sunshine at all. It's truly north facing.

I'm just bored of what I've got already.

What would go with brown flooring and brown leather sofas?

I'm happy to buy new curtains and cushions and paint the fireplace wall to give a new look.
The rest of the room is neutral.

The dog is also brown!

Unfortunately I can't afford a new sofa!

What about F&B Blackened? It looks grey in some lights, blue in others.

Why did I expect that to be dark?

F&B Elephants Breath looks very different on the wall than on the paint chart. It's very warm and has an almost lilac hue at certain times.

I'm doing mine in Pavilion grey - it is a warm grey and looks beautiful on the walls

I am sure F&B Elephant's breath was recommended on here by a property developer for north facing rooms with plum accent colours.

The best thing you can ever do is invest in tester pots, paint 8 sheets of A4 white paper and then put them on each wall but right at the corner of the room. You will be amazed how the light affects the tone.

Here is my north facing kitchen (looking at the end that gets none, but we get the sun at the bottom end due to the position of the house.

The wall colour is Dulux grey Steele 2 which is a mixed paint.

If most things are brown how about something very warm like F&B Pointing?

what about a sort of taupey grey? I don't have one in mind but it might be a good colour to look at.

or what about using grey but having mustard/yellow accents? that would definitely warm it up.

I wouldn't use grey personally. What about a pastel shade of apricot, yellow, green or pink. Chalky Downs by Dulux, linnet or clay by little Greene. Will tone with the brown Furniture. Use a stronger matching shade for cushions to pull it together.

We have used Cornforth White by F and B on a North facing bedroom wall. It looks great and can be warmed up with pinks, oranges and yellow/greens. (Not all together though).

I'm not keen on yellow tones or colours.
I'm also thinking that grey would be better on the soft furnishings.

I was going to recommend F&B Blackened, and see someone already has. Our sitting room is north facing, and it's a tiny bit lillac-y, definitely grey, which makes it warm.

I just got a tester pot of dulux cloudburst which was recommended on another thread as a good grey. It looks brownish on my walls. Its a kind of 'greige'. It might marry together your brown belongings and your hankering for grey.

Another vote for Blackened; but you really need a tester as it looks completely different on a screen.

Perfectly taupe by Dulux(I think). I've got it in my east-facing living room. It has lilacy tones, so warm. It's quite light, though, so I'd avoid in very light-filled spaces.

Goes great with pretty much everything.
