i really want to revamp the the living room.
currently i have a feature wall in plum/purple, oak floors , brown leather sofas. it looks warm and cosy but its been like this for a few years and i fancy a change.

I was thinking of grey and pale blue but its north facing. Does any paint company do a warm tone of grey. not too dark?

Ha no way, I have only just done this! I have a north-facing living room (lots of natural light) and have just painted it a light grey. It looks so fab and picks up all of the architectural details, makes the trim look perfect. I have a 1930s brick ex-council build and after the paint work, it looks so much more welcoming and like a period property (which it hadn't before in white).

Little Greene do a wonderful range of greys, would definitely recommend (painted ourselves and was very easy to apply). There are lots of warm greys which have a light purplish undertone which could work for you, dash of soot for example. I tried out a lot of greys and went for cool arbour in the end. It's lighter than it looks in the photo, has a very cool-toned NY/Hamptons vibe, which I hadn't expected. Absolutely love it and it gets lots of compliments - it's neutral but slightly unexpected.

Good luck!

I'm sure it can be done (after all, it's not physically impossible) but it's not for me. I tried out various shades o cream and beige in our living room and they all looked grey.I went back to yellow :o

No probs ihatethecold, here it is. Only pic I have is at night though, as I say I only have just done this and in process of moving in etc!

In the daytime, would describe the colour as a light concrete grey. If it had an undertone, it would be light blue.

Right I've literally just done this. My conservatory faces north east so last week I asked for some recommendations and have painted it a WARM grey - warm pewter by Dulux. It's lovely and I think the warm comes from the purpley undertone - but it's not purple in any way.

The others I tried were Cornforth White - too light, moon shimmer - too bright, light Parisien grey by Laura ashley - too light.

This is just the skim coat (watered down) and isn't dry yet.

I also tried Dulux Chic shadow as it was recommended and it was gorgeous if you wanted a lighter colour
