And will they date horribly?

My grandparents had one in the 70's. They were always trendy.

My sister is very withit, not a bumkin like me, and she's just ordered one for her family room.

Morgause · 27/05/2013 20:25

We had one in the 1970s. The right shape for our room then and would still be, if we were still living there.

moondog · 27/05/2013 20:27

I am not talking those sort with the leg part that flips out (God no!!) but quite the idea of a rather angular non squishy one..
I'd like to see a 70s number. Was it in a conversation pit adorned with nail and string pictures and macramé cheese plant holders? Grin

yes but in a good way

HeadFairy · 27/05/2013 20:30

depends on the design I think. There are some hideous creations out there, but to be honest, they'd be hideous IMO. We have one that's pretty simple and I think it looks ok, and I'm an arbiter of style :o

BOF · 27/05/2013 20:32

I like them. You can both lie down and still hold hands. Although I'm not sure that's what you're looking for in a sofa, moondog Grin

moondog · 27/05/2013 20:33

That sounds good to me.
I want to be able to stretch out and ensure that any member of the family can massage me feet. Grin

Depends on the sofa and the house. Low level 70s velvet with low lighting and sheepskin rugs yes! DFS leather and fabric combo hideous

LoveBeingUpAt4InTheMorning · 27/05/2013 20:35

I moved a doorway to make sure I could have one Blush

Grin @ bof

moondog · 27/05/2013 20:39

Leather and fabric combos with big squishy arms.
As described so memorable several years ago by Countess Dracula and elephant scrotums.

I am having totally fascinating trawl through Gumtree and Ebay.
Some real crimes against seating there.

I thought about one, once upon a time.
Weirdly, I have only seen them on TV or in furniture shops, never in peoples' homes.

GeetTallBird · 27/05/2013 20:41

I have a big huge grey one. So so comfy, and whoever gets the corner bit is in charge

moondog · 27/05/2013 20:43

In charge of what exactly?

OP posts:
HeadFairy · 27/05/2013 20:47

ours is a bit like this but not in this hideous colour

It's more like a chocolate brown.

moondog · 27/05/2013 20:49

Yes, I like that plain unfussy look.

Check out this horror

RnB · 27/05/2013 20:57

That is awful!

bunchamunchycrunchycarrots · 27/05/2013 20:57

I have one, a beigey-cord thing, and it's really comfy. Sitting in the corner bit feels like getting a hug Grin - handy seeing as I live on my own with an 8 yr old who is going off cuddles...

I was madly in lurve with my sofa when I bought it, but I'm over it now. It's still comfy but it's just a sofa. S'pose it could be seen as naff.

moondog · 27/05/2013 20:58

I like corduroy.

The corner seat is definitely at a premium in our house!

Saw this one advertised on tv last week, quite unusual and will probably buy something similar when our leather 3+2seaters finally die on us!

Moondog in charge of the house!! It's like a throne, albeit squishy.

I'm the boss anyway, but I like the idea of a seat of power.

SisterMatic · 27/05/2013 21:18

I have one too. Very comfortable, I love it.
