And will they date horribly?

It's sadly no good for your back though, (IMHO) and my 70yr old dad hates it (I used to have an ancient creaky tall chesterfield which suited his height)

Geet funny you should mention that, I'm a bit like an up-turned turtle at times trying to get up from the 'seat of power'. As comfy as it is, you do sink right in with no real back support, and flail about when it's time to get up.

I love ours. DH and I can both lie down on it. It is leather. We don't have any other seating in our living room as there's only us two and DS so it is perfect. it easily seats six :)

Think they can look stunning in the right place, but most British sitting rooms just aren't big enough. I saw a lot of average-sized sitting rooms with enormous monster L-shapes crammed in when we were house-hunting and it's a bit offputting.

Flail is a very good word for getting out of the sofa. I like to get out of it's clutches by whooshing legs over the side of it instead of actually sitting up and walking all the way around to get off the sofa properly!

This is the one I have. It looks weird actually, not as good as I remember it when in the show room. Mine doesn't actually look like that at all, yet it's the same sofa Confused.

Judge me. Grin

No, not naff at all, if you get the right one.

Ours is leather, very plain, no ruching whatsoever, and it seats all five of us. And the room is easily big enough.

I never get near the "seat of power" it's usually occupied by a lounging teen.
