Wow this house has everything.....

It's got twigs, an oversized clock, a deep and meaningful huge plank sign, smeg fridge, bunting, LOVE letters, a hanging twig heart. Aaaagh, I bet the owners think they're really unusual and quirky cliche

It's lovely. I mean just look at the space. I can imagine myself in there with my stuff.

MrsMiniversCharlady · 20/12/2012 09:42

Are they pictures of your house on your profile OP? Would you like us to give you our honest opinions on your taste in house decor?

I think this is quite a nasty thread tbh. This is someone's home! Let's hope neither the homeowners nor anyone who knows them reads this as they'd probably be quite hurt. I'd love to see all the negative posters' houses -maybe you should all post links to your houses so everyone can rip your 'style' to shreds...

WizardofOs · 20/12/2012 10:51

Thats a beautiful house in the OP regardless of taste. What an unpleasant thread. How would you feel if someone did this to your house?

SixtyFootDoll · 20/12/2012 10:52

Ah a lovely snidey thread, it's what makes mumsnet so great.

LtXmasEve · 20/12/2012 10:58

There are literally hundreds of crap house and/or property porn threads on here. What on earth is so different about this one that the OP is getting a shoeing?

LynetteScavo · 20/12/2012 10:58

If I had my house on the market and someone linked to it on a major forum I would be thrilled. You could mock my twigs and wooden letters all you liked.

I am impressed they have managed to cram an over sized clock, twigs, familly picture montage and some wooden plaque thingingy all into the hall.

OneLittleToddlingTerror · 20/12/2012 11:00

The OP house isn't so hot if you look into her profile. Thanks MrsMiniversCharlady for pointing it out. My own is nasty because it's like a ikea catalogue. Can't afford anything better.

yuleheart · 20/12/2012 11:04

errr, I actually like everything about the first house ! Xmas Blush

ChestnutsRoastingonaWitchesTit · 20/12/2012 11:04

Mmmm they obviously aspire to the "Cheshire Life" look, shame there isn't more shabby shite chic and a bigger more handmade more distressed kitchen.

Must try harder.

LtXmasEve · 20/12/2012 11:05

Hello OP, I love your house, very tasteful and stylish - a bit like you?

There are some wonderfully bad houses HERE if you want a giggle Grin

ChestnutsRoastingonaWitchesTit · 20/12/2012 11:07

Also, when you put your house on the market you are surely inviting criticism??

CHST · 20/12/2012 12:14

I like this house Hmm and that is my style also. I love hearts and bunting and candles and letters and gasp feature walls!

HappyGirlNow · 20/12/2012 12:22

chestnut you're maybe inviting criticism from individual buyers in the privacy of their own home, but surely not from a bunch of strangers, on a public forum everyone can see!

And I feel the same about all these threads.. What makes the critical posters so sure they know what good taste is??! Hmm

kitsmummy · 20/12/2012 14:27

fair enough, you can have a swipe at my house, my profile is public, but you won't find any LOVE letters Grin

OP posts:
MerylStrop · 20/12/2012 14:56

It's a very mild bit of teasing about a very nice house
I'm sure the owners will cope
(I thought it might have been your own house, actually, OP, just for a bit of tactical traffic-generation)

kitsmummy · 20/12/2012 15:03

Ha, no it's not my house, I'd be very happy if it was my house though minus all the fluffy shabby shite

OP posts:
fussychica · 20/12/2012 15:04

Unfortunately Chew Magna suffered badly in the floods so I'll give it a miss thanks.
I think it's pretty nice except for the LETTERS which I hate with a vengence. Strangely, I thought they might have a big following on MNShock

HappyGirlNow · 20/12/2012 15:06

I don't consider that mild teasing, I found it quite condescending, personal and nasty..

InLoveWithDavidTennant · 20/12/2012 15:14

not keen on the bunting and whatnot but i actually like those wooden letters

Grin
DoesntTurkeyNSproutSoupDragOn · 20/12/2012 15:20

If you don't want your house commented on, don't put it on the internet. [shrug]

Get over yourselves.

Imagine how bloody dull MN would be if you weren't allowed to say anything that may possibly offend someone somewhere.

MrsChristmasBungle · 20/12/2012 15:22

The first house is quite nice! The amount of space is great.

The student house pictures are unbelievable! Who would market their property like that? well this seller obviously

HappyGirlNow · 20/12/2012 15:27

As I said, there's a bit of a difference between potential buyers taking the piss privately in their own home and a bunch of women making snidey judgements and bitching to each other on an open forum.

It's a person's home - a person who (presumably and hopefully!) isn't signed up to MN... And hopefully no one who knows them is either.

Must be wonderful to be a self-proclaimed style expert..

MerylStrop · 20/12/2012 15:28

Happy Girl do you run a company that sells those letters, or are you getting some for Christmas?
