Starting a new thread, since our old one was almost full!

Anyone suffering the stresses of trying to sell a house is welcome to join us; anyone here to tell us our houses are crap and/or overpriced is not. Wink

Everyone needs a steam cleaner - I feel like a reformed smoker!

wonkylegs · 06/04/2013 08:43

We're on rightmove! DH had insomnia last night and checked and it must have gone on at midnight. Quicker than I expected.

CuddyMum · 06/04/2013 09:16

Good luck wonky - will you post a link? :)

wonkylegs · 06/04/2013 09:44

Eeeeeek agents phoned at 9.10 this morning and booked 2 viewings for this afternoon already!

CuddyMum · 06/04/2013 10:48

Brilliant news! I hope you sell quickly whilst the property is fresh on the market.

alwayslateforwork · 06/04/2013 14:19

Oooo, good luck wonky, hope today goes well!

Offer family are bringing their dd to have a look round in a couple of hours... Fingers crossed they will all see the light and up their offer to something realistic.

Have a fruitful weekend, ladies.

CuddyMum · 06/04/2013 15:47

I wonder why there daughter needs to like it. I hope they up their offer for you. At least they're coming back.

We've offered - we'll hear for sure on Monday morning...

Movingtimes · 06/04/2013 15:49

We have someone coming back for a second viewing tomorrow morning! And two more booked for next week. Trying not to get my hopes up, but it is exciting.
Good luck today Wonky, let us know how it goes.
We are viewing four houses on Monday and two more on Tuesday. Have made little checklists for the kids so they can rate their favourites.

CuddyMum · 06/04/2013 16:25

*their - not concentrating!

Well done Movingtimes - that's really positive.

Movingtimes · 06/04/2013 16:44

Hope you get your offer accepted Cuddy. Fingers crossed for you.

wonkylegs · 06/04/2013 17:08

Wow a bit of a whirlwind afternoon : 5 viewings - 3 expressed serious interest one definitely wants to put in an offer, two want to come back for 2nd viewings.
We have more viewings tomorrow too.
I'm suddenly really sad as it's hit home we really are moving now, really wish we didn't have to go.
Guess we'll have to see what happens now, agents not open on Sunday so will have to wait til Monday.

wonkylegs · 06/04/2013 17:09

Movingtimes - sounds good
Cuddy - fingers crossed.

CuddyMum · 06/04/2013 17:29

That's amazing Movingtimes!

Thank you Movingtimes and Wonky - I have every crossed too :)

alwayslateforwork · 06/04/2013 21:48

Lots of movement on here! Second viewing is great, movingtimes, and wow at wonky's day!

Well, they agreed to the price we countered with. The daughter likes it. They still don't want it until the end of July. But for some strange and incomprehensible reason, they don't want to sign off on the offer until 8pm tomorrow night.

So, I think we might almost have sold our house.

Maybe...

But these dudes are completely crazy.

I sat and pondered awhile last night about the houses we have looked at - and decided which one we will go for if this comes through. There's a pretty big chance that the closing date will put them off, but it's worth making an offer. Have asked realtor to set us up with a second viewing either today or tomorrow if possible (don't forget we are miles behind you, I'm not really trying to get a viewing at 9pm, lol) and I think I might be getting a teensy bit excited at the prospect. Trying to hold off until everything is signed though!!

The waiting is the worst part, right? Will they make the offer? Won't they?

CuddyMum · 06/04/2013 21:56

I hope they do alwayslate. Why the long date I wonder? 8pm tomorrow - they sound strange :). What was the daughter like?

I can hardly contain myself until Monday! I've started Googling Eglu's for chickens in a house that may never be mine!

alwayslateforwork · 06/04/2013 22:07

Never seen them. Round these parts you have to feck off and not be anywhere in the vicinity and the realtor does the showings... They are really hot on the whole 'depersonalize house completely' and making it look like no one lives there, so that viewers don't see it as your house, they see it potentially as theirs. So think posh hotel apartment, rather than family home.

We were really crap with the whole de personalizing thing. You are supposed to take down all photos and anything that might give potential buyers information about you... Grin including emptying bookshelves etc.

Not possible chez moi. Even with the super sized storage locker Grin.

My sister kept chickens - they had an entire greenhouse sized coop in the garden (in the middle of town lol) - can't do it here, they'd freeze to death for 7 mos and then the coyotes would get them. Grin sounds lovely though, and eglus are too cool!

I can't even begin to work out why 8pm tomorrow. The mind boggles.

alwayslateforwork · 06/04/2013 22:12

I think they might be moving from the other side of the country - Nova Scotia or somewhere. So I guess they are relocating for work or similar, so maybe the contract isn't starting until then... And as it's a five hour flight, I suppose it takes some organising! It's quite early for them to be looking though, if that is the case.

CuddyMum · 06/04/2013 22:41

I always vacated our house for viewings but every house we viewed had the vendors in. Actually, I hope that chatting with the vendors in the house we have offered on may work in our favour - we liked them and hope they like us enough to accept our serious offer!

alwayslateforwork · 06/04/2013 22:47

Yes - I quite like the opportunity to chat a bit to owners, I think it can be really helpful, especially if you do hit it off, and I like to think you can pick up any undertones about why they are selling...

What colour eglu will you get? Grin

CuddyMum · 06/04/2013 22:56

They have a genuine reason to sell - three kids all at uni. They've lived there for ages too. They were very open and nice. I would have moved in there and then if I could.

As a seller I don't want to meet the viewers - it scares me. I'm think it stems from my fear of interviews :)

I think I fancy a green Eglu but as I shall probably source it from eBay, it could end up pink!

alwayslateforwork · 06/04/2013 23:07

With three kids at uni, I imagine they are keen to get some money in their pockets, too! I think it can be really beneficial in those sorts of circs - and they are probably (hopefully) chuffed that it will be going to a younger family etc etc... Circle of life, and all that.

I know what you mean about being terrified of people viewing your own house... I do think I prefer someone else giving them the sell and answering questions. We don't have anything to hide - anyone viewing can tell there are too many people living here, and we need more space, it's no secret - but I'm a crap salesperson. I think I'd come over desperate, and I'm worried enough about having to have the house looking decent, without having to worry about what to wear myself...

Movingtimes · 06/04/2013 23:20

We've done all the viewings so far the estate agents have been too busy. Hmm I try to get the kids out of the house - had to pay them all yesterday to vacate their bedrooms and go into town for a hot chocolate. I think I might send them to Tesco with DH tomorrow morning if I can think of a reason they need to go there.

doglover · 07/04/2013 12:00

We had 2 viewings yesterday afternoon but haven't heard anything from the estate agents so am assuming that neither party is desperately keen to come back for a second viewing. I feel very stressed - we thought we'd found a buyer but they pulled out last week - so the wait goes on..................... I know that it's early days but I HATE the whole process :(

alwayslateforwork · 07/04/2013 14:53

It is pretty awful, isn't it?! Grin
We are going to go and have a second look at the place we like this morning (and taking two out of three kids). If it all works out with this 'can't sign anything until tonight' offer that we are theoretically holding on ours, then we will probably offer on this one. Need to check out bedroom situation and look into fencing garden though.

Good luck ladies!

alwayslateforwork · 08/04/2013 14:01

Hmm, well we still have a couple if initials required from our buyers to finish the deal - subject to contract. And we have put in an offer on the house we saw yesterday. Advised to go in low, so I am expecting a bit of toing and froing and for them to refuse the initial offer.

Good luck this week everyone!
