Not sure if this is the right section to ask but here goes.

We are in the process of buying a converted barn in Devon, it is within a small complex of 3 others. We are considering naming it:

Honeybun
Honey Barn
Little Barn

What do you think?

Old Lady is so, so right.

I recently had to make a work-related phone call to an elderly lady in the village where I live. My colleagues sniggered for 10 minutes as the elderly lady told me about her memories of my house 70 years ago, her memories of the house in which the lady who previously owned my house went to live 50 years ago, her memories of my house 30 years ago, etc etc etc.

The stable you've bought probably already has a name, you just don't know what it is. It will be called something like 'The End Barn' or 'The Gig House' or 'The Nag House' or 'The New Stables' or 'Smith's Old Stable'.

However, for practical purposes, you're actually best off calling it No. 42 if at all possible.

We had the police at our door the other day, having given up on finding a house by its name and having fallen back on going round knocking on doors until someone could point them int he right direction.

i am not the old lady :o I am the owl lady and i am thirty four, if that's old well you are younger than me!Wink

we can't even get takeaways as no-one can find it and dominoes delivered once as it was in their postcode range and then obviously thought it's too far away, too crap it has a name, we will delete that postcode off our range Hmm

you ought to hear the name of my house, lol. Iw ould tell you but i bet it's the only rural house with it's name and is most probably about some fling in greece or something

:) Oopps! I apologise heartily to LadyOfAPerfect-OrEvenSomewhatYoung-Age.

When we are expecting someone, we tell them to phone us when they get to the village and then we will stand by the roadside and flag them down. We haven't even bothered trying to get a takeaway, the idea is too horrific.

Orse House! It may not be good form to vote for my own suggestion but it makes me giggle lots too. Orse Cottage also an option.
