Time is running, builder and plumber are booked but I haven't decided on tiles, flooring or paint yet.
House is a cottage, bathroom Victorian style with this http://www.bathstore.com/products/savoy-gun-metal-grey-790-basin-unit-with-marble-top-and-basin-2862.html vanity unit
Was thinking about a Karndean floor in a mid oak but stumped over tiles/shower boards and paint. Any ideas welcome!

Are you having the grey marble top with underset basin? That is lush. Karndean is what we're going for in our downstairs bathroom - Van Gogh Aukland Oak. We were able to borrow some options on boards from a local flooring company so could see what the different types looked like in our space/lighting which really helped. As for tiles and shower boards - a large tiling place is your best port of call? Take your measurements? Are you having any boxing-in made for the bathroom? (pipework, built in cupboards) If so, it would look great if you could marry the dimensions with those of your chosen tile so you have no or minimal part tiles - very professional finish.

Thank you monster
Yes it is that unit, we got a quote for a bespoke one but it was just too expensive.
Unfortunately nowhere nearby does Karndean so I'm going in a bit blind. Ive got samples from the website but they're very small pieces do don't give you the best idea. Finding the same with the shower boards, no local stockists and the samples I have seem to be too glossy.
That was a good point about the tiles, our builder luckily has a very good eye for detail (buts works painfully slowly as a result!)
Any ideas on paint colour to go with the unit? Grin

Do you have the Karndean brochure? That is better to look at whether you want wide or narrower planks/bevelling/texture. It also gives a better representation of evenness of grain and detail on knots. The small blocks are a bit useles!! They may be useful for choosing colour/shade though if you place them on the floor in your room. I've found the honeyed colours look quite weird & pink in real life.
Shower boards probably do look ultra glossy when new - don't have any experience of choosing these, although we have some in a shower here and they seem fine.
I've found looking at bathroom brochures very useful for getting ideas of the look I would like/style & shape of tile (planning stage) - especially the more expensive ones!
this is great for ideas - was posted by someone very useful here Grin.
Paint colours to go with the grey marble - I can't see the unit, just the sink top. I can't really suggest anything - am getting in knots with colours myself - but would you want to keep it fairly light and cool?

No I don't have the brochure, that would be a good starting point!
I really like the metro/subway tile look but don't think it would go with the cottagey look of the rest of the house. I think for tiles/boards I need to tie in with the marble top of the vanity unit. So that just leaves floor and paint....
I'm thinking a blue to tone with the grey of the unit and then a oak floor to warm it up?

I'd completely forgotten. About Houzz, I even have the app! Some great stuff on there, seems that most people seem to go for tiles on the floor rather than "wood" though
