Any dishwasher experts around?

I have a beko dishwasher, the lights are on and it's making noise but it's not actually washing dishes. The noises start as soon as the door is closed when the main power button is on, usually you have to press the start button before anything happens.

It was the cheapest one in the shop when I bought it, is there likely to be something simple wrong I can fix myself, if it's more complicated is it worth getting repaired or am I better off cutting our losses and getting a new one possibly even a slightly better brand?

No expert but have you checked that the arms can move, there isn't a handle hanging down or something like that?

Does it have any warning lights you can google?

A swift kick sometimes helps .

Checked the very obvious things already and even turned it on and off again

I have found an instructional video on youtube for checking the float - no water is coming in so it might be this, but I have a feeling coming on at the wrong time is a sign it's a bigger problem than just lack of water. It's too late at night to start taking it apart now but I might have a crack at it in the morning.

I'm just not sure if it's all worth it or if I should just get a new one - with a childlock because the little blighters turning it on and off at random moments probably hasn't improved it's lifespan.

Is water getting in to the dishwasher? That's worth checking. But if things have started happening in a different sequence, that does sound like a fault. In which case call a repair service - unless it's under warranty, an independent local person might be better than calling Beko.

I threw away a 'last chance to get an extended warranty' letter a couple of months ago! They must have some sort of remote control device which sends your dishwasher wrong the second that letter reaches a certain level of decomposition. Bastards.

Mine is a different brand but when mine was making a noise but not washing google told me to empty the dishes and tip the machine back to a 45 degree angle. It fixed it.

I also removed the filter and the second filter (who knew?) to make sure nothing was caught in there eg broken glass.

I have no idea why this fixed it but it did! You have just saved me taking my dishwasher apart/ calling out an engineer/ buying a new dishwasher.

tipping it back tends to spill the water, which has collected in an anti-flood tray underneath, onto the floor behind the machine, where you might not notice it. Once the tray is empty, the flood detector thinks there is no leak, because it doersn't detect the water.

Next time, pull it away from the wall first so you can see/hear if water is coming out.

If so there is a leak, possibly on one of the pipes round the pump.

Beko dishwasher washing fine, wash light is lit during wash but end light didn't light up at the end last night after 6 years of good service. Seems a bit of an odd fault, the obvious issue being how do I know for sure the wash has ended (except for the wash light going out).

Any help gratefully accepted.

This totally just saved us buying a new dishwasher. Thank you!

Our Beko dishwasher wouldn't finish a cycle. Kept displaying wash but wouldn't finish. Engineer contacted via our product protection plan and he was also stumped. Eventually he replaced the circuit board, tried a pre-wash cycle and it worked then he left. We tried a full wash cycle and still the machine wouldn't work properly. We have tried all sorts... checked pipes, hoses, unplugged machine. No joy.
Last resort before we call the engineer back - google the problem. Brought me here and I know it is nearly April 1st but I thought I'd try the 45 degree thing. Don't know why but it worked. It is now doing it's first full cycle in a month.

I wonder if that will work on a 16 year old Miele washing machine ?! Probably not ! Think I might just have to get an engineer round !

tilting it tips the leaked water out onto the floor. It doesn't fix the leak so you still need to get it mended.

I'm not too keen on all these 'snetters with puddles under their machines. It will ruin wood or laminate flooring.

According to be no when they told me to do this it actually has nothing to do with a leak but a jamming float. Diluting it 45 degrees releases the float.

Now why has mine suddenly started filling waiting 5 mins and emptying over and over again. Did this 3 months ago and I unplugged it left it a month as couldn't afford Any body out. When I could guy came and plugged it back in and it all worked perfectly. But given up again.

45 degree thing worked for me too. Then happened again. There was a leak tilted machine onto back as another forum suggested. Removed base plate (4 screws). A HOSE WAS LOOSE. Only held on by metal clip just pushed back in. Now working fine.

Please please check out the cause of the water leak after the 45degree tilt, as bertiebaby has said, take the 4 screws of the bottom panel. I also had a loose pipe, popped it back on and is now good as new. Thanks for everyone's input on this thread, saved me a new dishwasher. 😊

My dishwasher is integrated, any tips on that? I want to try to sort it myself before I call an engineer out. Thanks guys

Have just fixed dishwasher with 45degree technique. Thank you.
Our machine needed two screws taking out. They were in two flexible brackets attachining the machine to the work surface. (Underneath at the front) They could be seen and accessed with the dishwasher door open. I gently pulled the machine out taking care not pull on the hose and and tilted it back about 25 to 30 degrees.for a minute or so. I was then able to restart it immediately. A team minute job...

My dishwasher also beko has something stuck in it i think. Water not drainign and making a hurrendous noise like a thrashing noise when i turn it on. Any ideas how to clear it. Nothing in the filters. Sometjing has slipped fown through and oast the filters out of reach!
