How much more is it to get removals people to pack as well? Any feedback on whether it's a good idea appreciated.

Depends what else you've got going on and how soon your moving.
I moved with a newborn PFB and I def needed it.but I packed my own undies as felt weird about that Blush

IIRC it wasn't that much more to get them to pack for you, but you do need to make sure that they label well. We had 20 boxes labelled kitchen but no idea whether it was tins of beans/baking trays or crockery. [grr]

Our quotes have come in at £250 on top of the move (which is £1000) so for me definitely worth it. We had the service before and it was a godsend (although the moving day was still vile with having to clean up and throw things out around the packers but it would have been so much worse without them).

We have been quoted £500 on top of our removal cost of £2500 that is for a 4 bedroomed house I am definitely getting them to do it!

Ours was an extra £100 and worth EVERY penny. We moved last week. You dont need to do ANY packing, they do the lot! The unpacking wasn't included and is still going on....

Ours is a 2 bed flat but going to a house.

We've been packed and moved twice, and it was wonderful. My underwear drawer was just covered with paper and packed as a whole drawer.
Worth every penny imo

God yes, best money we ever spent. And we moved literally just across the road, about 100 yards! Still had a big van and everything!

2 bed flat won't be that expensive, I don't think. Go for it.

We were moving from a 2 bed flat to a house. It was about an extra £200 for the packing (on top of £500/550 quote for removals). Sooo worth it - DH and I went out for a few hours and left them to it (we'd left everything pretty well organised/labelled beforehand mind you), when we came back it was all beautifully wrapped up and going into the van. Most painless move ever.

Also, we found that our contents insurance covered breakages during any move, but only if the items had been professionally packed. So that gave an extra reason why it was worth it.

^ (though nothing broke in fact).

DP is a removals man, he'd much rather pack stuff himself, not for the extra money but because those of us who don't move house every five minutes, i.e. most of us, aren't actually very good at it... boxes over filled with books, thus causing hernias, light binbags used for soft furnishings/bedding/clothes - which get ripped, therefore dirty and/or wet - banana boxes with things sticking out of the top - ends with crushed lampshades...
Keep feeding them tea/coffee and biscuits and they will love you forever and maybe even rebuild your IKEA furniture. Beer also helps at the right time of day.
