What would you call a light fitting on an arm over a table?

That doesn't make much sense does it?

I have a table, I can't hang a light from the ceiling over it; but I could have an arm or something attached to the wall (high up) over the table

Is that better?

I like my 'manshape' the shape he is (oddly enough - I know it's rare on MN)

I'm getting ideas now

This one is around 2.5m tall, but I'm not sure about the height from shade to floor. IIRC though you can pull the wire so the bulb is closer to the top, and maybe swap for a smaller shade... yeah, maybe getting too fiddly now! Apologise for the IKEA dump btw, it's just I keep remembering things we do. I honestly don't get paid for promotion :P

S'OK kitchen is coming from you anyway (pictures on Profile)

Smile This is the kitchen with sink planned for optimal TV line-of-sight isn't it? Very sensible. Washing up is tedious - DH does it watching repeats of QI on Dave.

Except I can't make it work Sad

But he will turn his head right & he can see the telly.....I can see him getting a kink in his neck Hmm

Oh that's a shame. DH has survived like that though - we have a window directly in front of our sink so he has to wash-up diagonally to see our wall mounted one (kitchen is my hiding place from the DCs - I often watch DVDs in there whilst 'baking' or 'cooking dinner' Wink)

Hope you get something sorted with the lights. Candles are good...

Thanks for the tips. I had looked to the right of the smileys but managed to miss out the brackets blind as a feckin bat!

I may revisit it - but atm the one I designed looks pretty - boring but pretty

Ooh, just looked at your profile Katy, I like the new kitchen layout with the sink opposite the hob. Could you have a flip down TV mounted under the "over sink cabinet that doesn't exist"? Guess you need to find the cabinet first...

Looks like you do have a ceiling though so don't understand the issue with the light for over the table??

here are some good floor lamps with shades that could hang over the table

For wall lights, how about any of these?

It's a plastic conservatory roof about 2.1m (6ft 10) high so hanging things from it is very hard
