Does ANYONE else still have a coloured bathroom suite?

We are finally getting quotes now to re-do our bathroom, which has not been touched since we moved in 11 years ago.

I can loose the redundant bidet and replace the huge corner bath with a shower/bath with a decent pumped shower.

Looking in the showrooms at lovley fittings makes me realise how dated the suite we have is.

Tell me I'm not the only one who doesn't have a white suite at the moment Grin

my mil has a cream bathroom suite, looks nice, warmer than white.

Milliways · 30/10/2010 22:03

Cream is probably still acceptable. Ours is grey, so not as bad as maroon or avocado (according to plumber!) :)

in JULY we still had an avocado bathroom suite.

No more, no more, no more, no more...

white looks about five million times better.

still a lovely peach suite here from late '90s! am selling so the new people can update to white Grin and i'll look forward to a brand new white one in the next house.

onepieceoflollipop · 30/10/2010 22:04

my very elderly neighbour has avocado.

recently I have seen turquoise and a kind of powder blue (in various clients' homes)

We have white.

Peach used to be very "in"

My mother has grey.

lucykate · 30/10/2010 22:04

when we last house hunted, we did view a house with a chocolate brown bathroom suite, with the right decoration, i could have been tempted to keep it!

nigglewiggle · 30/10/2010 22:04

My parents have an orange/brown number. I'm not sure what the euphemistic description is for it. Burnt caramel?

CristinaTheAstonishing · 30/10/2010 22:04

Washbasin in downstairs loo is cream. It's tiny and out of the way, so it's OK.

onepieceoflollipop · 30/10/2010 22:04

Maroon may be convenient if you own a mooncup Wink

shakingleaf · 30/10/2010 22:05

i grew up in a house with an avocado b/room. it was a big event when it got updated to soft pink in the late 80's!

onepieceoflollipop · 30/10/2010 22:05

I once viewed a house which had dark beige and chocolate brown suite (plus a damp problem)

The estate agent referred to it as "sepia" Hmm

Hulababy · 30/10/2010 22:06

There is a pretty expensive bathroom shop not far from here and it does a range of bathroom sinks in various colours, so maybe colour is coming back....

Sinkingfeeling · 30/10/2010 22:07

We had an avocado suite when we moved into this house - feel quite nostalgic about it actually. :) But aren't coloured suites in again? Kirsty Allsopp had a buttercup yellow sink in her homemade home, didn't she?

Milliways · 30/10/2010 22:08

Great! I am not a social outcast then. (The crowning glory of my bathroom is the glass door, in front of non locking door, directly opposite top of stairs, with 2 walls of mirror tiles Grin

Can you see why I need a total re-fit????

We have cream in the bathroom and our en-suite, plus grey in the loo downstairs.

In our last house we had grey, cream and powder blue Grin

Not through choice - is set to be replaced as soon as £££ saved!

Think ours is pampas or champagne. Not really sure what colour pampas is Confused Horrid anyway. Also have the huge, uncomfortable corner bath. But now have rhe quote and will be getting rid very soon. They will, of course, come back into fashion now

Milliways · 30/10/2010 22:11

Oops, last post should say non-locking glass door in front of LOO at top of stairs!.....

We have a cream one.

Well a cream bath and sink.

We had to replace the toilet last year so have a cheap white wickes one - does the job!

Planning on a new bathroom in Feb / Mar next year

TheNextMrsDracula · 31/10/2010 00:48

We used to have a maroon one. Showed EVERY SINGLE watermark.

Heartsease · 31/10/2010 15:18

I had avocado in my last place, and doubtless it's still there since the landlord was 91 and probably considered it recently modernised.

I have quite a soft spot for coloured bathroom suites, though I still bought white when I had the chance. My parents had 'Whisper Pink' which was rather lovely and shell-like in a very eighties way. They had white taps with it.

Rupeomatic · 31/10/2010 15:27

well we still have avocado - am completely unrepentant about it Grin

PigeonPie · 31/10/2010 15:37

All ours, main, ensuite and downstairs loo are in varying shades of pink. Can't afford to change them at the moment so they have to stay.

Our bathroom doesn't look too bad - at least we put in a decent shower and good quality shower cubicle and we decorated when we could afford it a while ago. The main bathroom just looks tired now, but it'll just have to wait!

You aren't alone and I'm glad we're not!

domesticsluttery · 31/10/2010 15:39

We had an avocado suite in our last house (moved out 4 years ago). It was one of those things that we just didn't get round to replacing! No doubt eventually it will come back into fashion Grin

Themasterandmargaritas · 31/10/2010 15:41

We have a delightful avocado suite, original 70's and in excellent condition. We also have a lovely mustardy yellow affair, some may liken it to an explosive bottom colour but I'm sure it's now very fashionable.
