Does ANYONE else still have a coloured bathroom suite?

We are finally getting quotes now to re-do our bathroom, which has not been touched since we moved in 11 years ago.

I can loose the redundant bidet and replace the huge corner bath with a shower/bath with a decent pumped shower.

Looking in the showrooms at lovley fittings makes me realise how dated the suite we have is.

Tell me I'm not the only one who doesn't have a white suite at the moment Grin

We've got champagne suite with scallop shaped edges (really need a yuk emocion!) and carpets in the bathroom Blush. All decor was previous owners late 90's 'style' and we just haven't got round to changing yet. Our last house was same & we changed to white suite with lovely big bath (plain), it was like going swimming Grin, then we moved.

Does anyone have the colour called Sun King, which was a vivid apricot orange? My mum told me once about visiting someone posh who had TWO bathrooms, one in avocado and one in Sun King.

Themasterandmargaritas · 31/10/2010 15:58

Sun King sounds ominously like my mustard yellow diarrhea one. Suspiciously like it if it came in partnership with an avocado one too.

Mum72 · 31/10/2010 16:05

My parents bought a house with a Sun king bathroom. It was the first room to be overhauled but in those early days you needed sunglasses to visit the loo!

Its the brightest yellow almost orange colour you can imagine! Its VILE!!

EColi · 31/10/2010 16:06

We have a beige bath/loo/basin, also with a non locking glass door to landing - the glass door has been replaced (managed to persuade dh that it had to happen before we had an au pair move in. Au pair had her own, nice, shower room but don't think she would have stayed long if she had to pass the glass bathroom door when someone was in there.
We have an avocado cloakroom suite as well. Both sets should be gone by next March though - replaced by white. :)

linspins · 31/10/2010 18:54

My avocado suite is being ripped out tomorrow!!! I am so excited. Mind you, it's not just the colour I object to it's the whole plastic-y broken yuckyiness of the whole thing. Mmmm, gleaming white soon to be mine.

Linnet · 31/10/2010 20:33

Our bathroom suite is sage green. It's not too bad, but it's old and i hate it and as soon as we can afford to we will be replacing it to a nice fresh white suite.

pinguwings · 31/10/2010 20:40

Ours is maroon, probably about 30 years old but reliable as you like.
Looks a bit vile but white's just dull!

LaurieScaryCake · 31/10/2010 20:43

When I was househunting 6 years ago there was a house with 4 different coloured bathrooms/loos Shock

dark brown shit colour toilet and sink downstairs, yellow en-suite, pink en-suite and avocado family bathroom.

sugarlake · 31/10/2010 20:47

Yes, avocado toilet and sink here. The 'lovely' matching bath finally died when the arse fell out of it and brought down the kitchen ceiling.
The landlord refused to replace the other bits as they were still good. [hhmm]

Oblomov · 31/10/2010 20:48

blue. Vile. hate it.

deste · 31/10/2010 22:57

Heartsease We had sun king in a houe we bought 32 years ago, we actually chose it because it was a new house. We then move to one that had avocado. I was holding a bottle of bath lotion in my hand and it went through the sink. I asked the plumber who put in a replacement for us in an emergency to put in a completely different colour so that my DH would have to get a new bthroom.

Grumpla · 01/11/2010 00:05

I'm hoping to move to a house with a yellow loo, sink, and bidet! No bath tho :( just a disappointingly non-yellow shower.

Heartsease · 01/11/2010 14:32

Grumpla there's a yellow shower for you here. Deste what a shame about the accident with your avocado Wink.

GoreRenewed · 01/11/2010 14:34

Yes, yes yes....

Yes we have a grey one! We had a lovely brand new white suite with a special shower bath and nice taps but we moved Sad

FIMBOfireworkdisplaysonly · 01/11/2010 15:50

My parents still had an advocado suite up until last year along with those funny tiles that looked similar to a duck in pattern, that pub loos usually have. The best bit is they replaced it in advocado twice during the 70's/80's.

Bathroom has now been updated to just a shower room but thankfully all in white.

BOOsilla · 01/11/2010 19:51

My parents have a 1960s pale blue suite. The toilet is much higher than modern ones and the cistern is massive! It was there when we moved there in 1973

Grumpla · 01/11/2010 22:34

Heartsease That is lovely, but not quite the right shade... is more pastel, easter bonnet sort of yellow.

I am actually quite fond of it :) although DH nearly refused to buy the house on the grounds that it was "disgusting".

Looks like we might get to keep it for a while anyway as we have now officially run out of money so no dosh for doing up.

I do wish there was a nice yellow bath too, DS is going to have to be hosed down in a paddling pool all winter.

Heartsease · 01/11/2010 22:56

I wasn't joking when I said I quite like this. I looked a loads of pictures of coloured suites in books on 1930s houses. Easter bonnet yellow sounds great Grin.

elvislives · 02/11/2010 21:31

We've just moved, leaving our two decent, new white suites (with shower bath). We've inherited a sage suite.

persephoneolympia616 · 01/04/2012 11:25

oh dear! im moving into a new house (really exited!!) and the bathroom suite is yes, that kind of lovely light brown. anyone ANY ideas on what colors to or not to decorate the bathroom with as the suite must stay (another case of an ancient landlord im afraid!) and what sort of theme? im completely lost when it comes to this, i admit, the bathroom has defeated me! help!!

noddyholder · 01/04/2012 12:48

They are back in fashion in all the cool interiors mags! Esp the dark ones. If you can't afford to change it go with the retro theme. I have removed them in every house I have renovated as buyers want white but without exception when taken out the quality of them was far superior to any modern ones even the more expensive! I love the primrose yellow art deco style orgreen

Sinkingfeeling · 01/04/2012 14:05

Didn't Kirstie Allsopp install a (reclaimed) buttercup yellow bathroom suite in Meadowgate? I thought it was quite splendid actually. Smile We did replace our avocado suite within days of moving into our current house though ...

JuliaScurr · 01/04/2012 14:17

domestic it already has!

Oddly, when we first moved in, the bathroom (avacado suite, green carpet, 70's white/green tiles) was pronounced 'lovely' by many , even most, visitors
They were seriousConfused - maybe the plants helped?

JuliaScurr · 01/04/2012 14:20

noddy like the pic
