Free hamper?

Was looking to buy an Italian hamper, and came across this site where several of the hampers are showing up as price zero. That can't be right can it? Is it worth ordering one just to see if it actually turns up? Assuming it's a mistake, are they obliged to sell at the listed price?

I have been referred to their terms and conditions, as you predicted Flowerybeanbag, with the contract being as point of despatch, so I'm interested in the Statutory Rights point.

I'm going to check Moneysavingexpert - I'm sure there's something on there about it.

£5 off the hamper or refund here too.

Gone with the refund, not received it yet though, will keep you up to date when it happens.

Was worth the try anyway, but of course we will lose money on the refund won't we as its via paypal (I hate them!)

Ohforfoxsake · 01/12/2008 13:38

Will we? I didn't think of that.

well, i have had 7.17 refunded and it says next to it (temporary hole) and some old bollox about waiting 7-9 days . 7.17 is what i paid out so maybe we do get the full amount back.

I bought something from ebay and it was damaged and the chap offered me £10 off the cost of the goods, but it was about 45 pence short once it had come through because paypal whipped their bit out. I hate them as i said before but sometimes you need to use them, otherwise i would close the account and be done with it.

bollockbrain · 01/12/2008 15:31

hold not hole!

SameAsYou · 01/12/2008 19:21

I have had a paypal request for the remaining amount too....

LilySwalLoosHerTurkeyBaster · 01/12/2008 19:27

I got full refund straight away i haven't had to wait !

tigger15 · 01/12/2008 21:59

FYI there is an old argos case where they put the wrong price on the website and people bought tellies (decimal point in wrong place). They had to honour the contracts.

Update. Am OUTRAGED!

Have been sat here with DH drafting my email to them.

Just rang Barclaycard to double check that the £8.40 was definitely processed and is no longer pending. It was definitely processed successfully, they have taken payment.

But....

wait for it.....

THEY HAVE TAKEN A FURTHER £68.57 FROM MY CREDIT CARD WITHOUT MY AUTHORISATION!!!!!!!

Any slight feelings of guilt at taking advantage of their mistake have now vanished. I will wait until tomorrow when this further pending transaction is confirmed then I will be going in all guns blazing I can tell you!

Grrrrr!

(Bizarrely, I don't know where that figure has come from. The new figure for the hamper I ordered was £113. Anyway. Grrr.)

chloemegjess · 01/12/2008 23:12

oh no flowery! Maybe that was the price it was going to be reduced to? That is awful. So glad I didn't do it now!

lisad123 · 01/12/2008 23:28

no refund for me yet but a full invoice and an offer of £10 off

NCRedBreastedBirdy · 02/12/2008 00:30

They emailed me earlier so I rang them, they said that only one woman was dealing with "all these" and she would ring me back. She hasn't but I have spoken to someone else who also says I should pursue it. The difficulty being it was 0 - as I thought. If it had been 1.00 (ie 100.00 or 10.00 marked wrong) it would be easier to defend as you really can say you thought it was an offer but here we can't really say that....

Will see what happens, like I say though, really I felt it was worth a go I am not prepared to spend time and effort on what I already knew was an error not an offer, it feels wrong somehow.

Flowery, on your behalf, that is out of order.

LilySwalLoosHerTurkeyBaster · 02/12/2008 10:30

Flowery

snuffyp · 02/12/2008 10:32

think the moral of the story is if it seems too good to be true it usually is!its obvious its a error and i do,nt think places do honour anything they seem to be able to do what they want!

SameAsYou · 02/12/2008 13:26

I have just received a full refund. I rang them yesterday and they said it would be 48 hours before someone would call me!

NCRedBreastedBirdy · 02/12/2008 19:17

I rang them and rang them and .. you get the picture! Then someone emailed me and told me the phones were not working. I called again and asked if there was anything wrong with the phones "err no" so I got the woman who emailed and blasted her for lying to me. She tried to pass it off as being crossed wires I have your email here it says "THE PHONES ARE NOT WORKING" anyway..

They wiggled and squirmed and got very uncomfortable but they did stick to their guns and it was clear I either got a lawyer or a refund so I went with refund (mind you I was very peeved about being lied!)

On the up-side though a refund through paypal does not seem to attract a charge, it goes straight back to your card.

NCRedBreastedBirdy · 02/12/2008 19:18

lied to
