school closed for no apparent reason

We have had some snow here in NW Essex but not too bad and school has been open all week, although we were encouraged to take them home early on Wednesday. Today school is closed and I have no idea why - no more snow overnight. Yes it froze overnight but it has done all week. I think the headmistress couldn't be bothered.... Anyone who works in a school suggest why? any other schools done this? The reason on the website was `the weather'. If not open on Monday I am taking my children away somewhere for the week. They are confused and bored - Christmas holidays over and need to go back. Don't schools have a commitment to open? (state primary)

I bet you fail to mention your pathetic swearing and insults in your precious article, FernCottager.

mrz · 08/01/2010 18:18

FiveGoMadInDorset and what are the roads like where the staff live?

MerlinsBeard · 08/01/2010 18:18

bitches? hmmm i prefer nest of vipers myself

YOU post an aggressive OP, you get aggressive replies...simples

shootfromthehip · 08/01/2010 18:19

TBH it is rare that a HT will make that decision all by themselves- the LEA have to approve a closure. So I doubt it's shut because the Head can't be arsed.

Cybils · 08/01/2010 18:19

I don't think OP was aggressive and responses were certainly not bitchy

Now go and play nicley

JollyPirate · 08/01/2010 18:19

Look out for the Daily Mail (or whatever rag she writes for). Fame again eh?

juicy12 · 08/01/2010 18:20

You sound totally and utterly crazy Ferncottage, but you have made me laugh a lot - I bet you're huffing and puffing a lot now

SoupDragon · 08/01/2010 18:20

FernCottage, you say MN is unsupportive. Have you seen the Christmas Appeal threads? The one where we coughed up stuff tor a MNer in need? The ones where we've made something for a MNer to show we're thinking of her? The others where we've sent birthday cards to a MNers child whose father couldn't be arsed? The innumerable other similar threads?

Where support is needed, we are supportive. Where someone is whining we are not

JollyPirate · 08/01/2010 18:21

Calm down dear - it's only an internet forum. Simples.

as mad as a balloon

FairyMum · 08/01/2010 18:44

Sort of agree with OP ( except for the head being lazy which I think was tongue in cheek) and I think the responses are ridiculously bullying.

BoysAreLikeDogs · 08/01/2010 19:05

.

Batteryhuman · 08/01/2010 19:14

mad as a bucket of frogs

SoupDragon · 08/01/2010 19:23

Bullying? How are the responses bullying?

FlightAttendant · 08/01/2010 19:24

I don't think you were nice, Bald.

OP I'm sorry you had a rude answer, you learn to ignore them as you get used to this place...everyone else was very nice to you yet you didn't thank those people or indeed engage with them at all.

You just focused on the rude one and then went rather OTT and strange yourself.

I am not sure you really have a handle on this

Perhaps a bit of lurking might be in order before you attempt to post again.

And what are youdoing writing for the press when you are out of your depth on an internet forum?
Is it Chat magazine?

Portofino · 08/01/2010 19:25

And no matter WHAT shit anyone writes in the paper, we still keep coming back.

bibbitybobbitysantahat · 08/01/2010 19:43

I don't think I have been a fucking bitch on this thread to be fair.

satc2bringiton · 08/01/2010 19:44

I think the replies are a bit bullish tbh, but thats not uncommon for SD, I was told only yesterday to 'get a grip' from her.

satc2bringiton · 08/01/2010 19:46

Bullyish

SoupDragon · 08/01/2010 19:47

where the fuck have I been bullyish?

BoysAreLikeDogs · 08/01/2010 20:17

S'cos I asked OP if she was thick

Not the politest response in the world praps

But I still stand by the fact that I didn't tell anyone to fuck orf

Sadly I did tell her to feck off - not my finest moment but she annoyed me with her "I am now off to write a nasty article about Mumsnet" all because people didn't agree with her. Silly cow.

Prior to that stupid threat I might have been a bit supportive and understanding - it IS difficult for us all when schools are closed - I've missed two days of work but I totally understand why the school is shut (treacherous ice outide the school and the gritting hasn't helped).

As it is she just came across as a lazy arsed journo searching for inspiration before writing her next article - well she got it. Hope the pay is worth it.
