midnight tonight we can log on and find out.......

We should have a forgone sibling place conclusion but there is always that deep fear that the processing went wrong!

Hello I'm also waiting for a sibling place but will have to wait for postie to bring the news! I also have that fear they will have lost the form or something!

CarGirl · 27/02/2009 20:37

nervous wrecks all around, I have quite a few pre-school mums waiting on tenderhooks as they shrank the PAN unexpectedly last year.......

Me too (not a sibling place though)
Good luck to those logging on at midnight....wish I was but will have to wait for letter tomorrow. Post normally arrives 11/11.30 am on Saturdays.
Quite a lot of grim faces at nursery this morning.....apart from those that found Jesus in the last 18 months and so have been "blessed" with a guaranteed place. Faith schools, dontcha just love 'em

CarGirl · 27/02/2009 20:45

ahh but wait the new found faith Mums will all be moaning about the RE at the school..............

hi girls - have you seen my post on this thread?

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/primary/707554-quick-poll-when-do-you-find-out-about-a-place

Do you think the email lnik will work?

My son is the eldest and I am an atheist so, sadly, I fear he has no chance.

I'm waiting for a primary place. I applied on-line and got an email with a link in it saying it was available from 11.59 tonight!

Yes, we are waiting for a primary place too. ours is also our eldest and we haven't played the gameattended church the required number of times so despite being within metres of the school here I am biting my nails and apparently there's a good chance we won't get in this year.
As time has gone on I have become more and more disillusioned with the whole church school ethos that supposedly pervades our local faith primary . Most of the religious applicants for the school come from the catchment of a primary school that has SAT scores only a few points lower than the faith school and as a newcomer to this area I really didn't understand why they were all so desperate not to send their children there. Then a couple of the (churchgoing) mums confided in me that the problem with the other school was the (whisper gypsies). Nice.
FFS, and the local churches actually collude in and promulgate this state of affairs for the sake of a few extra bums on pews.....oh and the direct debit forms that they encourage all parents of toddlers new members of the congregation to fill out. Very bloody Christian I must say.

xfabba · 27/02/2009 22:02

I couldn't agree with you all more. And all in the name of what is now an acknowledged declining "minority interest". It's obscene.

solidgoldbullet4myvalentine · 27/02/2009 22:05

Oo. Ooer. Well, not quite in Surrey but just over the road - is it really going to be that soon that we find out?

xfabba · 27/02/2009 22:08

Even though I'm pretending I don't really care as we have a private place for September in case (another thing I swore I would never do but they leave you no option) I am getting nervous and upset now. It is so wrong that the system puts people in this position, probably penalised for not playing the system.

DP is away on a stag do as well so am on my own. The thought of all the hassle if we need to appeal ........

ShrinkingViolet · 27/02/2009 22:13

we should (hopefully) be OK - applied for a junior school in what's apparently a low birth year round here (2002), plus we haven't gone for the "popular" school.
Good luck everyone!

cece · 27/02/2009 22:19

Good luck to you all. you sshould be Ok though cargirl...

eshermummy · 27/02/2009 22:26

Xfabba - I am sitting here ranting to my DH about the injustice of it all!
I really am so bloody cross. I do not object to the religious ethos of the school, and I would not object to my child being taught about God at school. We live in a broadly Christian country and many aspects of our culture (music, art, architecture, philosophy) require an understanding of Christianity in order to be fully appreciated.I am happy with this.
But I do object to the Church, which iirc provides 10% of the funding to our local school, having the right to determine 100% of the allocations.
TBH, the attitudes I have encountered in the last few months have really soured my view of the school, its governors and the other parents.

RiojaLover75 · 27/02/2009 22:41

em holding hands!!!

We're in same boat. Not prepared to pretend we are practicing C of E but hoping that the surrounding schools will take DS1!

madwomanintheattic · 27/02/2009 22:45

ulp.
is juniors out tomorrow? can you check online if you didn't apply online?

i couldn't remember the date and have just got back from a 2 week trip - was half expecting to see a surrey envelope on doormat...

waiting on a sibling place though - though hopefully should be ok (fingers crossed)

(that said - we're hopefully finding out in the next month or so whether we're moving lol, which will make all the stress absolutely pointless - doesn't make it any easie though )

eshermummy · 27/02/2009 22:58

sorry, have allowed myself to get carried away with the grrrrrr-ness of it all..........back to holding hands mode.
RL75 - are you near us? We are not pretending either so we come under heathens in spitting distance Category 4.
Good luck all, I really hope not to be starting/meeting any of you on an appeals thread tomorrow...

eshermummy · 27/02/2009 23:01

MWITA - I think consensus was you can only get results online if you made an online application.
I think Surrey juniors letters go out tomorrow as they are considered part of primary allocations? Is that right? I hvne not looked at any split infants/juniors schools so not sure of exact arrangements.

ShrinkingViolet · 27/02/2009 23:02

madwoman - results available online if you registered online, possibly also if you have a username and password, but them sent in a form. If oyu cna get online results, then you'll have had an email a couple of days ago. therwise, wait for the postman tomorrow!

ShrinkingViolet · 27/02/2009 23:02

Yes, Junior schools are tomorrow as their part of primary applications. Secondary is next week..

RiojaLover75 · 27/02/2009 23:03

MW if you applied online you can find out online, if not you have to wait for the post tomorrow in Surrey

Babbity · 27/02/2009 23:06

I stupidly applied the paper-route so I have to wait till tomorrow. argh. but I should have no problem as we've applied to the not oversubscribed local school which has the gypsies.

madwomanintheattic · 27/02/2009 23:06

ah well.

guess it's snailmail then...

thanks ladies, see y'all tomorrow

xfabba · 27/02/2009 23:14

who's going to check tonight? am in 2 minds about whether or not to have a stress and ranting-free weekend .........
