I already have a dd at the school I want but I am still out of catchment so I am nervous too. DD2 won't start until Jan thankfully (fellow Junie SFX - was Skyler ).

I also start my PGCE in Sep and have everything planned around her getting in so will be scuppered if she doesn't. Can't think about it at the moment....

End of March here - the wait is horrid isn't it. Good luck to everyone with their choices.

hi VP nice to see you about, dd starts part time in September then full time in January, we are in the very small catchment area but it will not stop me worrying
the difference in school size between 1st&2nd choice is huge and I think it would make a difference to one so young

In Bedfordshire forms have to be in by end of September and you find out around a week or two before Christmas.

SFX - Yes I think the little ones cope better in smaller environment, though I have to say it a surprising what children get used to. I was a nightmare when dd1 started school. I sulked and cried and stressed. Now I have been volunteering in some different schools I am able to be a bit more rational.
I have been into the school I def didn't want dd to go to and you know, it is not so bad. The children are all happy .
Part time is good. DD1 was soooooo tired and she was a Jan starter too (March birthday). Actually though dd1 is still exhausted in Year1 so maybe that is just her....

Letters are posted next Fri 27th Feb for Surrey. It says on Surrey LEA website that results will be available online from midnight on the Friday - I am sad enough and desperate enough to log on at 00:01 but does anyone know if this option is only open to those who made an online application? I made a paper application and hand delivered it to the school. (Am luddite ). Am assuming you will need a password to access the results on the website and that it will only tell you your child, surely they don't post a list of everyone's names and which schools they've got do they?

eshermummy i too am a surreymum who will be waiting up. i ahd the conversation tonight with dh about how exactly will we find out- eg an email or just a posting on a website of who is in what school? i will ring and try to let you know. i woud like to think that it wouldnt matter whether or not you applied online but of course one can never be too sure on these sorts of things!

We had the option to apply on line last time, and if we did the results were also available on line. If paper forms were handed in / posted then you had to wait for a letter. We are in Shropshire though....

Surrey here, too.

I'm sure they won't publish a complete list of who is in each school - will they??! Data protection would have a field day. I think it's possible that it may only be those who've already got an online password that can see results online though. Not sure how else they'd give you access.

Am feeling confident on the basis that DD2 is a sibling and we live next door, but beginning to be nervous that there might be some sort of almighty cock-up ......

Next Friday for us in Surrey too. Am sooooo nervous!!!

As I understand it if you applied on line then you can collect your results online Sat 00.01 and a letter will be posted on Friday which we'll hopefully receive it on Sat.

If you applied on paper then you you have to wait for the letter in the post.

Part of the reason we applied online is that I cannot abide the thought of the letter bein posted and our pants postal service not delivering it until Monday .

We'll be waiting up until we can log on!!! Anyone want to hold hands????

Nowwearefour - oh yes, if you speak to them please post back on this thread. I'm sure it's as smithagain and others have said - you'll need a password in order to access the info. I assume it's too late to get a password allocated.....
Our post can be a bit hit and miss (some days they can be bothered, other days it seems they can't, somedays we get 3 different posties come, other days nada) and if the letter doesn't come Saturday I think I will go mad!

Report
Smithagain · 19/02/2009 20:15

I do seem to remember that it took a couple of days for the letter to reach us with DD1's school allocation. A few of her friends got theirs the day before, which drove us mad for 24 hours.

RubyRioja75 - I am so wishing I applied online now! I just know that blasted letter will not turn up till Monday....
I so want this period of indecision to end, will willingly hold hands with you all till its all over.
