Would you mind if your school's head teacher was gay?

Someone started a thread on this topic a few days ago, and I was delighted at the tolerant attitudes shown. However, the thread's title didn't really say what it was about, so I'm not sure the OP got a full range of opinions. So I thought I'd try this and see what happens. Sorry to hijack your discusion, linney!

No

Slouchy · 23/07/2008 09:21

not in the least.

quickdrawmcgraw · 23/07/2008 09:21

no, of course not

Kewcumber · 23/07/2008 09:21

I didn't see the original thread but can't imagine why anyone would care what the sexual practices of their head teacher were provided they didn't involve children.

iheartdusty · 23/07/2008 09:21

No, why would it be anything for me to 'mind'? None of my business.

Blandmum · 23/07/2008 09:27

None of my buisness. Why on earth should I 'mind'?

tortoiseSHELL · 23/07/2008 09:28

no, not at all.

EffiePerine · 23/07/2008 09:28

why would I?

missblythe · 23/07/2008 09:28

No, of course not.

ProfYaffle · 23/07/2008 09:28

Not in the slightest.

filthymindedvixen · 23/07/2008 09:29

She may well be for all I know - I haven't asked her.

thelittlestbadger · 23/07/2008 09:30

Not at all. Although I had a number of male friends who were gay and taught - they were terrified of it becoming common knowledge which I thought was very sad.

gingerninja · 23/07/2008 09:30

I can't imagine why it would be any of my business and no it wouldn't even occur to me to be bothered.

2point4kids · 23/07/2008 09:30

I find it slightly odd to ask the question tbh. Cant imagine that any sensible person would actually say 'no i dont think gay people should be allowed to be headmasters'

potoftea · 23/07/2008 09:31

No I wouldn't mind.

And I'm interested to know why anyone would have a problem with it. (Obviously if it's a religious school the governing body may have, but individual parents, why?)

SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 23/07/2008 09:32

agree with ninja it just wouldnt occur to me to be bothered1 in fact i dont think i would even pause to think!

my normal reponse when i get told that some one is gay is "so?" which i do genuinely mean. its none of my business or concern who people choose to sleep with in their free time.

chutneymary · 23/07/2008 09:39

No. On what grounds could it possibly be relevant?

GooseyLoosey · 23/07/2008 09:40

Not per se - nothing to do with me.

However, I would mind if they brought their sexuality into the school and class room (in other than an educational sense) in just the same way as I would mind if a heterosexual teacher did this.

Marina · 23/07/2008 09:40

Still saying no here seeker
And still reluctantly convinced that we are not the norm here on Mn. For a start, I have women friends who would not mind - but their husbands might - judging by their occasional revealing "jokes" about homosexuality
