Nursery school uniform

hi guys
my daughter is starting nursery in September and her school requires nursery children to wear full school uniform. I have been looking for pinafores as they will be most comfortable her school requires grey school uniform I wanted the mid grey uniform but I can only seem to find the darker grey in The supermarkets. I currently have a pinafore from m&s but again, it is the dark grey. Anyone know where to find the mid grey school uniform from or should I just keep the dark grey

I think the dark grey is far more common and some schools specify "charcoal grey". I think it looks smarter. Is there a summer dress or shorts option as it can still be quite hot in September. I agree pinafore would be easier than skirts though. A jersey one would be easier to move around in than a tailored style.

Summer dress is usually worn until the weather turns or October HT, whichever happens first.
And then with the pinafores I really wouldn’t over complicate it. Just get dark grey from the supermarkets. It isn’t worth spending more money than you need, especially when they’re growing so quickly, to find a lighter colour that’ll just show stains more and is unlikely to be what the other kids are wearing. If you really insist though I think M&S have some lighter ones although could just be the lighting of the pictures, might have to order and be prepared to return if no good.

John lewis do cotton rich tights in charcol which is v dark grey. Sure they’re not the only place that do either. And I suspect the colour of the dress and tights is likely one of those things the school says but don’t strictly enforce. Like logos on white trainers. Even if it’s a prep/private if they were that bothered they’d be having you buy an exact item from schoolblazer.

Buy it as cheaply as you can at the supermarket. Nursery uniform will get wrecked with paint, mud, playdough, chalk, sand etc (as nursery clothes should). I think it's outrageous that some places insist on uniform for nursery children. T-shirts and leggings/joggers should suffice. Definitely source the uniform as cheaply as possible and don't stress over shades of grey.

Oh good grief, please tell me this is a private school? That's outrageous and I'd just ignore it. I'd love to see them try to enforce it.

That said, you can usually get dark grey tights in most supermarkets. I can't picture seeing light grey so often, it's usually a charcoal grey. Standard school uniform colour really.

If you really want a particular shade of grey look at the Trurex website. They have at least 3 different greys.

All my dds had tights in the same colour as the cardi, or black.
Would recommend not wearing tights on PE days, dds had trousers for those days. I think quite a few schools have children just wearing pe kit now

Can you ask other parents at the school what they do?
Or look on their FB page and so on as to how strict the uniform colours really are?

As a previous nursery teacher, please go with long socks not tights if at all possible. Tights are a right pain when toilet accidents occur.

I'm sure whatever you buy will be fine but if you're in any doubt you can buy preloved uniform from the PTA in Sep.

Clothes are likely to get dirty with paint and glue etc so if you can pick up some cheaper bits this might be the way forward.

Asda George grey tights are very dark. Might be a safe bet

Double check with nursery I've never heard that in my entire career in nursery. Kids wear comfortable moveable clothes not a formal school uniform just bizarre and unpractical. Some have a nursery polo top and sweatshirt but that's it.

Matalan have them.

Dear God, children in uniform at nursery!!!! Are they all going to line up, click heels and salute? Uniforms are for armies and hierarchical organisations like the police and fire brigade.
