Hampton Prep 7+ 2025 entry waiting list

We just received the results for Hampton Prep's 7+ entry for 2025 and DS is on the waiting list. They don’t rank the waiting list. Does anyone know what this means? Will the waiting list move? Has anyone had a similar experience?

It definitely does move yes - but often you need to wait for the other schools to finalise their results before there’s a lot of movement. Fingers crossed!

Hi we just received our offer from Hampton Prep and haven’t made a decision yet. But we probably wouldn’t make a decision till closer to the cut off date so I imagine they’ll be movement in January! Good luck

They mentioned in the email that the list will move in January, but we don’t know our ranking that's the thing, so it’s difficult to decide whether to wait or confirm with another option that has a deadline before Hampton. I don't know why they are keeping the wait list as a mystery. Any idea how they decide from the wait list?

When is the deadline of the other school? Do they have a grace period in their Ts and Cs to change your mind?

The acceptance deadline for other school is in the 1st week of Dec- too early. Hampton Prep is our preferred option as it is closer to us. We are at a state school and want to secure a seat for Year 3 as we do not wish to continue in the state system. I will speak with the other school next week but making a decision will be challenging without a clear sense of hope from Hampton Prep.

That’s very cheeky and unreasonable of the other school really….they know that many other schools won’t have released their results by then (or waiting lists move)….

Yes.. very weird. Any idea how many seats usually available at 7+ at Hampton? Some seats will be reserved for their pre prep pupils right.

Depends how many are moving up from pre-prep, usually it’s all of them minus the girls but there usually aren’t many girls, so probably about 18ish places available.

Oh for some reason I had assumed the pre-prep only has one class so 9 girls and 9 boys so their would only be a max of 9 boys moving up leaving 27 places available?

I don’t know for this year, but when we applied 2 years ago, there were 22 and maybe 3 or 4 girls?

Is it worth looking at Kings house school also if I don't get Hampton confirmation? I need a back up in local area.

I know two boys who go there and are very happy! They are co-ed now if that’s a consideration

They have good leavers destination also. Quite wide

I was mentioning about Kings house leavers destination. They have quite good schools there

Kings house leaves destination- St Pauls, WUS and Hampton and many decent ones. But i have no idea how it is in general.
