We just received the results for Hampton Prep's 7+ entry for 2025 and DS is on the waiting list. They don’t rank the waiting list. Does anyone know what this means? Will the waiting list move? Has anyone had a similar experience?

Anyone know when Hampton Prep starts offering assured place?
Starting from Y2/3 or majority starting from Y4-5?
In which areas to assess the student for the assured places?
Is it an academic oriented school? Thanks!

Hello! They offer from Year 2 (Pre-Prep) but hardly any (if any) will be given then. Some more get given in Year 3, but the majority seem to be Years 4 and 5 (my son is in Year 4).
You can look up the admissions criteria for Assured Places - it’s performance on the standardised assessments (they do these twice a year) and a good report.
I’d definitely say they want to be academic and that’s the aim, and overall the boys seem to do very well. They are really aiming for as many as possible to get Assured Places as that’s the USP, hey. But it’s non-selective at nursery so good results are even more impressive on that basis! I’d say we feel there’s hardly any homework (maybe 5/10 mins a night for my son, occasionally more) but I’m sure this ramps up!
