DD is due to go to summer uniform after the holidays, am I alone in thinking it will be freezing?

What online stockists do people use as our local M and S is not stocking dds colour this year.

Ours go back next week , in cotton dresses and shorts !

foofi · 06/04/2008 18:17

Who knows what the weather will be doing by next week? There's always thermal vests and cardigans.

Unfortunately my dds' dresses have to be from specific local shop so we can't go for online deals.

twinsetandpearls · 06/04/2008 18:18

dd is lilac/purple and white.

Lizs - the boys at dd1's school wear shorts all year round [glad I don't have boys emoticon]

twinsetandpearls · 06/04/2008 18:18

can order online from marks but was wondering if anywhere else did them.

How many dresses do you think my 5 yo will need? I suppose this is the summer term coming up isn't it . We have snow outside and I was having a tights vs socks debate for this term prior to the holidays ....

VanillaPumpkin · 06/04/2008 18:23

white THUD!

foofi · 06/04/2008 18:25

The dresses are very thin and wash/dry very quickly, so the last couple of years I have managed with only one dress each!

hana · 06/04/2008 18:27

do the school stipulate that summer dresses have to be worn after the break?
last year dd1 had 2 summer dresses - was plenty. they dry v quicky

is nice to get 100% cotton dresses reather than the polyester ones

DuchessOfNorksSnowSpecial · 06/04/2008 18:27

We have optional summer uniform so if it's freezing or very wet they can stay in winter clothes for awhile.

VP - 2 dresses should do. I started with 2 the same size but now operate the 'one that fits well and the old one which is a tad short' method.

VanillaPumpkin · 06/04/2008 18:29

Oh good, so you think I could get away with two then??
I have two pinafores, a skirt and trousers at the moment and she has only ever worn the pinafores.....Mind you I have four cardigans (£3 from George and one hand me down) and have needed all of them .
We are down to three pairs of tights from four but have about 100 pairs of white socks (over enthusiastic first time school parent type here )

misdee · 06/04/2008 18:29

twinset, how o9ld is dd/ how tall? i have a lilac check school dress, brand new. dd1 moved schools after i ordered it.

VanillaPumpkin · 06/04/2008 18:32

Great, thank you.
Where can you get cotton ones then? I will do a search. I have to say I bought 100% organic (ponce) cotton pinafores etc from Tesco in the summer and it has been impossible to keep smart even when I take ages over the ironing....
I liked the M&S ones with pockets and they were only £6. Reasonable I thought...

DuchessOfNorksSnowSpecial · 06/04/2008 18:34

Debenhams have checked dresses in blue, navy, yellow, green or red.

'School Wear' is hidden away on the site under Kids/All Kids & Accs/School Wear.

twinsetandpearls · 06/04/2008 18:34

DD is six, she is quite a taal six though.

right, i have got it out of the cuboard, its for 120cm tall children or there abluts. is 100% cotton, lilac/white, and from the eczema clothing company. if anyone wants it i can send it tomorrow for free.

twinsetandpearls · 06/04/2008 18:36

have ordered two cardigans from debenhams, hopefully as most buy from marks they won;t always be getting muddled up.

OP posts:
twinsetandpearls · 06/04/2008 18:37

Unfortunately debenhams don;t do lilac summer dresses.

OP posts:
misdee · 06/04/2008 18:37

reminds me, i need to sew labels into the summer dresses that arrived last week.

twinsetandpearls · 06/04/2008 18:38

misdee are you sure you don;t want whatever you paid for it. will cat you.

OP posts:
misdee · 06/04/2008 18:40

dont want a thing for it. its been sitting in the cupboard for three years, never been worn. the company only had enough material for one dress and it arrived too late for dd to wear it that term, and by the next summer we had changed school.

VanillaPumpkin · 06/04/2008 18:45

I like this one But it is only 35% cotton. However that is more than all the others that are all polyester and viscose ....

misdee · 06/04/2008 18:52

VP, eczema clothing company make 100% cotton ones but they are more expensive than high street shops.
