Any "fluffies" (children identifying as cats) at your child's school?

I had no idea this was a thing until this week. Parents are fully supportive. Is this happening across the UK? Apparently they're being provided with a litter tray in a private room. I thought being allowed to wear ears and a tail was going beyond reasonable but the litter tray seems completely unhygienic and a step too far in role playing how they feel about their identity.

Oh god. Shoot me now.

I've just googled it and it's a known hoax in America. However I've met a grandparent this week who said it's happening in their local primary in the West Midlands.

There are ongoing cases within the NHS of staff wanting to identify as cats whilst on shift (and various internal procedures as it ties HR and Equality Diversity and Inclusion reps up in knots) but I had never heard of this within childcare before.

There are a million reasons why a primary aged child might be dressed as a cat, wanting to actually be a cat isn't one of them.

Litter tray is bollox but yes there are children at my dd's school who dress up.

Cats ears on headbands are a fashion fad in the same way Jo Jo bows were. Doesn't mean they identify as cats. I don't think they are as popular these days.

This is a known hoax / conspiracy theory as others have posted. Since then repeated and reposted with spurious 'claims'.

Origin as far as I know. There were claims that cat litter in classrooms were there to affirm children's identity as a cat. Fact? Yes there was a school that had cat litter in a bucket in classrooms in high school. Why? Because if they had to lockdown when there was a school shooting, kids would be able to go to the loo. Somehow the reality of children having to shelter from school shootings is just normalised.

Stop feeding the right wing nonsense. Anyone posting - my friends knows someone..., a grandparent says....the NHS are affirming this.... then please post actual fact or evidence not hearsay.

This is a hoax. Someone locally told me a child at a local school is in this bracket and that a letter had been sent to all parents. I know multiple parents at that school and no such letter was ever sent. Urban myth!

Headbands with cat ears are pretty common. They might play cats at break time. That's it. They're playing. Same as superheroes or mums and dads. Kids have always (or at least in my 15 years working in the sector) pretending to be animals when playing.

No primary school will put out a litter tray for kids to poo in. Don't worry, it hasn't happened
