Any parents with children at LEH?

My daughter has a second round assessment for 7+ at LEH on Thursday. Aside from the fact she may still not be successful, I’m trying to work out how to make decisions in the coming weeks. The main draw of LEH is it is a through school, so she’s sorted until 18 (the other possibility she would need to sit the 11+). That said, I loved the prep, but how do I know the senior school is the right place for her while she’s only 6!! I’d love any feedback if you’ve had daughters at the junior school - how you’ve found it / what the girls are like / how much you really looked at the senior school before committing? Many thanks!

@FFF3 slightly off topic but do you know what second round entails?

FFF3 · 10/01/2024 11:29

@Razzmata all I know is that it’s a problem solving activity (or activities) lasting an hour. Not much that can be prepared I think.

@FFF3 i have PMd you

I have a daughter at LEH Juniors. I hadn’t looked at the seniors recently but people seemed to like it and great facilities and local so I went with that! However I may change my mind if I don’t feel it’s the right place for my daughter to be honest but I took the chance.

I think in some ways it’s a place for fairly confident girls although there are quite a few quiet ones. The academic place is very fast and you have to be a confident worker, something my daughter struggled with as used to working much slower paced environment! Girls move around for many lessons and independence is expected very early on. Girls (and parents!!!) are generally very interested in academic pursuits. Feel free to PM if you want to know anymore.

@FFF3 wasn't it end of Jan? And don't they email to let us know they have posted? Have u heard anything from leh on email yet?

FFF3 · 18/01/2024 17:49

They always seem to say “end of Jan”, but last year definitely was the equivalent of this week, as my goddaughter got an offer then.

Just had a quick mumsnet check, and this thread https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/primary/4714253-lady-eleanor-holles-leh-second-stage-of-admissions-for-7 confirms offers went out on the 19th Jan last year (posted on the 18th) - but I imagine they give themselves a cushion of time to come back to us.
